Good example. I think that’s a leap frogging issue. MacOS had a compositing window server first. Then Vista improved upon it. Now they’re on similar footing. I’m not knocking MS really. Just noting the ebb and flow and how ambitious projects go sometimes.

More convenience stuff: because my Preferred Aesthetic™ is to not have file extensions visible, I made a workflow for it and stuck it in the Touch Bar. I’ve found I use it pretty often.

Am I crazy or are the speakers on the 2018 MacBook Pro like WAY better than the 2016 model?

Without notice, Apple just killed the App Store affiliate program- The only reliable revenue source for sites like TouchArcade, AppShopper, and others. This is unbelievably terrible news for all third party App Store editorial. https://t.co/nsCAapp3zj pic.twitter.com/2znXq8kanj

I guess we can finally stop using the default ugly App Store buttons on our website. Yes, they do complain about that crap. pic.twitter.com/nMmMT7QTy3

OMG this is so obvious in retrospect! 🤦‍♂️ it also explains why Twitter can’t treat these names as suspicious - because they are actively suggesting them to users. https://t.co/mvzMxUFgD0

so i ran into this making my art account and basically when you pick a username that's already taken, literally the first option is "that name, but with 10 random numbers on it"

they're literally just automatically putting in generic names and picking the first option

Considering how expensive Apple devices are, iCloud storage should be free. If you pay over the odds for something you expect a premium experience. Right now Apple is nickel-and-diming users to increase services revenue to please the shareholders. https://t.co/mF2j39FH7r

And THAT, kids, is why you take technical debt seriously and deal with it ASAP, instead of kicking the can down the road.

It's great that Apple handled it this year, but they should be handling it every second or third year, not about every fifth year.

I was using HDR in Lightroom for that shit, but it was also HDR in the Camera app. I was trying to be as like-for-like as possible. The difference would probably be even more pronounced if they both were non-HDR, but I would have to test that to be sure.

“Does USB-C simplify the [MacBook Pro](https://t.co/eHkf07X7d1)? Yes. But it can put the burden on the user, something a truly elegant solution should never do.”
We had these capabilities before USB-C, but now we have these same capabilities only with adapters.

UITableViewCell does self-sizing by calling systemLayoutSizeFittingSize: on its contentView, not itself, therefore constraints independent from contentView will not get solved.

One of the most basic reasons the Apple TV has always been merely OK (never great) is because it is designed by people who do not watch TV and in fact have contempt for those who do. The same is now true of Macs - they are designed by people who no longer believe in the platform. https://t.co/WN5WxyOAjH
