And that was how it started.

Jason hadn’t expected to run into the mercenary, but then again, nothing seemed to have gone to plan that night. He’d meant it to be a relaxing evening, if he was honest. Bust some minor criminals, kick some major ass and look good doing it. The usual. But this was Gotham, after all. The physical embodiment of the phrase “Shit Happens” and now Jason was out of bullets and out of his depth.

"I don't remember," Roy tells him, a low, mournful curl to his words. "I'm sorry."

"It's fine," Jason says, pulling him along the sidewalk. It's hard with Roy seemingly deciding to stick to him like an overgrown burr, clinging to him as much as possible.

"I messed up." All of his previous exuberance is abruptly sliding into a downswing. The brightly-lit display of the boutique behind them highlights the downturned angles of his mouth, the frown dipping between his too-wide eyes trying to focus on him. "I messed up, didn't I, baby? I'm sorry."

Damian's barely twenty-one and if there are some musts in the world, it's getting said twenty-one-year-old drunk in a safe place. Such things come with games and games come with confessions. In this case, confessions that change things for Tim and Jason forever.

Tim stumbles forward, arms flailing out in an instinctual response to catch himself. Except he hits someone else before he hits the ground, hits someone hard. Tim watches in horror as Jason stumbles forward from his accidental shove, before spinning around to face him.

“You want some too then, ya stupid fuck?!” Jason’s eyes are emerald flames as he stomps over to Tim.

Tim raises his hands in what he hopes is a placating gesture. He realized too late that, in his nervousness, he’s clenched his hands into fists, so now it looks like he’s squaring off against Jason. It excites the crowd even more. There’s a loud ‘Ooooooooh’ that fills the hallway around them. Tim has no idea where the other two boys went. He should stop worrying about them though because Jason is coming at him fast.

“N-no wait! I didn’t mean-“ Jason’s fist slams into Tim’s jaw and Tim falls to the ground, passing out for the second time in less than week.

Jason has a method of managing his anxiety that he tries to keep from the rest of the Bats. Especially when they're the cause of said anxiety.
