Cartesian dualism -- the latest weapon in the war on Darwin
It distresses me immensely that I no longer have either the time nor patience to properly engage with philosophical argument such as this, other than to observe that the problem of consciousness in no way suggests the conclusions that proponents of "Intelligent Design" would like it to. If you decide that the problem of consciousness leads you to dualism — and consequently that the mind is entirely extra-scientific — you can't use that as an argument against evolution any more than you could other rigidly extra-scientific propositions such as, say, the axioms of mathematics.
