The latest Matchbox 5-packs celebrate the Autobahn, Rescue vehicles, and I guess the August Holiday Season – theLamleyGroup
Keep your eyes open for the latest Matchbox 5-packs. One I think most of you will want, another will be gobbled up by emergency and Subaru collectors, and the last I think will stick out like a sore, but festive, thumb.
Nerdilicious member and RCR @hw_jay found all three tonight at Target, and sent over some pics...
The holiday pack is actually pretty cool, but a little early. Who honestly cares though? Those of us who want it will get it, and I am sure more will sell as the weather gets colder. The Rescue pack is a must because of the Subaru. The others go in the donation pile.
But that Autobahn set. Wow, that is nice. That is a true 5-for-5 when it comes to my collection. Seeing the Volvo V60 and Lamborghini LM002 return after a short absence is great, but I am particularly keen on seeing two 2007 Hall of Famers, the Audi R8 and Bentley Continental GT. It is a tremendous pack. Look for them, obviously, at Target.

2020 Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder Is Pure Open-Air Excess
Power and drama converge with Lambo's latest droptop missile.
The Lamborghini Huracán has never been about top speed, and rarely have lap times been key to its mission. This is a car about theater. It's emotional and maybe overwrought, with a vivid voice that projects way back to the cheap seats. It's a diva with undeniable talent, even if sometimes it's tough to figure out what to do with that talent. And, with the 2020 Huracán Evo coupe and Spyder, all that drama has been amplified.
With the introduction of Lamborghini's Urus SUV, the Huracán's place in the lineup shifts a bit. It's no longer the company's biggest seller, nor is it the entry-level Lambo. The Evo update slightly refocuses the Huracán's character with an increased emphasis on sensory overload. All 2020 model-year Huracáns will be Evos, though there's always a chance some grander variant will appear if the company decides to goose up interest in the car.
Toward that end, all the substance of the outgoing Performante model, and then some, is now part of the Evo. So, as with the previous car, the exhaust outlets for the Evo's 5.2-liter V-10 are centered high on the tail for efficient flow and maximum aural satisfaction. Power is the same as in the Performante at 631 horsepower at 8000 rpm. The peak torque of 442 lb-ft still arrives at a frenetic 6500 rpm, and the engine's redline is at a nosebleed 8500 revs. Shared with the Audi R8, this is a purebred supercar engine from the bottom of its dry sump to the top of its aluminum cylinder heads. Supporting that engine is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system with a limited-slip rear differential.

Preview: Hot Wheels x Gumball 3000 Lamborghini Aventador – theLamleyGroup
Just in time for the RLC and Gumball 3000 sale today. I was wondering why the RLC was selling these on a day other than the standard Tuesday, and now I know why. After I made the video I learned it is available today on the Gumball 3000 site as well.
So cool right? RLC members can take their chances at 9am PST today, or everyone can just get it at the Gumball 3000 site until it sells out (and I have no idea when that will be as I have no idea how many were made).
In the meantime, here is a look...

We Drive a 250,000-Mile Lamborghini Murcielago
We slide behind the wheel of the highest-mileage modern Lambo in the world.
Supercar owners tend to heed the adage of Indiana Jones when it comes to their precious exotics: “It’s not the years, honey—it’s the mileage.” Hence the paradox that the very cars that are designed exclusively for the pleasure of driving tend to be the ones that get driven the least, instead being locked away in climate-controlled garages lest an excess of miles reduce their value.
Which is why this U.K.-registered Lamborghini Murciélago is a supremely elegant, and extremely orange, riposte to the fetishization of barely used supercars. When we were lucky enough to drive it recently, its odometer read just over 258,000 miles, but we’re told that total has gone up by another 2000 miles since. Continued use means that its record as the highest-mileage modern Lamborghini in the world is unlikely ever to be beaten.

Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato – Crazy Off-Road Supercar Concept
Do you prefer your supercars to have lots of ground clearance? Then this Lambo is for you.
The Lamborghini Huracán Sterrato is a one-off concept that imbues the brand's smaller supercar with a number of rally-car styling cues.
In addition to mechanical tweaks, it has more ground clearance, bigger tires, wide fender flares—and additional LED lights, of course.
Lamborghini has an enviable off-road history stemming from the Urraco and Jarama.
The idea of an off-road Lamborghini isn't something that was invented with the new Urus SUV—the complete opposite, in fact. There was the LM002 SUV of the 1980s, but even before that, famed Lamborghini test driver Bob Wallace created rally versions of the Jarama and the Urraco in the 1970s. To "demonstrate Lamborghini's commitment to being a future shaper," according to chief technical officer Maurizio Reggiani, Lamborghini has now created a one-off Huracán called the Sterrato intended, according to Reggiani, as a super sports car that can go off-road.
And it's pretty damn awesome. Based on the Huracán Evo, the Sterrato—which translates to "dirt road" in Italian—uses that car's same 631-hp V-10 engine and all-wheel-drive system. Lamborghini says the Huracán's AWD, rear-wheel steering, and torque-vectoring systems have all been modified for off-road driving, and that the car is tuned for maximum acceleration and traction while still providing a rear-axle bias.

Lamborghini Aventador Successor Will Get Naturally Aspirated V-12 and Supercapacitors
Lamborghini chief technical officer Maurizio Reggiani tells us all about its next big V-12 machine.
Back in 2017, Lamborghini showed off an electric concept car, the Terzo Millenio, that used supercapactitors instead of batteries for energy storage. Then we learned it's building a hybrid hypercar with supercapacitors and a V-12, codenamed LB48H. And at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini chief technical officer Maurizio Reggiani just told us the Aventador successor is getting similar hardware.
We covered a lot about Lambo's future, so we'll get right to it.

Game changers: How McLaren, Aston and Lambo are re-writing the supercar rules | DriveTribe
Alex Goy is a freelance motoring journalist who has written for the likes of Motor1, Carfection and CNET.
Each week he will be taking a look at the biggest news in the car world, right here on DriveTribe.
There was a motor show on this week. Geneva usually sees the great and the good of the supercar world unzip their pants and grab a ruler, and this year seemed no different. Here’s what you should care about from there, and the wider world.
McLaren, not content with revealing a billion and seven new models before the end of the decade, has decided to make up new rules about what it means to be a Grand Tourer.
A good GT needs to have space for people and stuff, enough grunt to cross vast swathes of land in a matter of hours – and look the absolute nuts.
McLaren wants its new GT to add ‘a level of agility never experienced before in this segment’ as well. Basically: McLaren’s going to make a softer car for people who need to travel.
When Andy Palmer took over at Aston Martin the line up looked… identical. No bad thing, but it meant a prole in a Vantage could be mistaken for an Oligarch in a Vanquish, and that would not do.
So Palmer made it his mission to ensure his generation of Astons looked suitably stand-outy. The DB 11, Vantage, DBS, and Valkyrie are all easy to tell apart, but the cars unveiled at Geneva? Less so.
The Valkyrie, AM-RB 003, and Vanquish vision are all remarkably similar. Still, bet they’ll be ace to steer.
The winner of the pants/ruler competition at Geneva surely has to be Lamborghini (Bugatti gets an honourable mention for making an unattainable megacar, mind) and its Aventador SVJ Roadster. 760 horses, 6.5-litre N/A V12, just shy of £400k – and it actually looks good in metallic beige. Stellar stuff.
*I do no apologise for this clearly amazing pun
Sad tidings to round out this week’s news review. Alex Mills, better known as Viper007Bond, passed away this week after a battle with leukaemia.
The 34-year-old wasn’t just some bloke off the internet, but the mind behind the Final Gear Top Gear/Fifth Gear forum/fan/download site. Final Gear was kicking around before iPlayer, Netflix, and all that kinda stuff, and it meant fans from all over the world could watch their favourite car show easily. There are arguments that without Final Gear, and Alex, the three big names behind this very site wouldn’t be as famous as they are, such was its impact. Go well, friend, and thank you.

Lamley Daily: Hot Wheels Entertainment Lamborghini Huracán – theLamleyGroup
Model: 2019 Hot Wheels Entertainment Lamborghini Huracán
I’ve said this is the best Lamborghini Hot Wheels has ever done. It doesn’t have to be, and after thinking about models like the Murcielago SV LP and Gallardo Police from Speed Machines, I may have spoke too soon. But this Dr Strange model is either the best or tied for it.
I mean how can it not be? It’s gorgeous. Gunmetal gray with the 6-spoke wheels. Simplicity at its finest.
I am not a Lamborghini expert. I’m not even a Hot Wheels Lamborghini expert. But I have a strong opinion. It seems to me the execution of the “small” Lambos – Gallardo, Huracán, Sesto Elemento – is always better than the “large” Lambos – Reventon, Aventador, etc. It is probably because shrinking a Lambo is probably very difficult. Designers always say that creating a car in 1/64 is FAR more complicated than many of us think, and considering the lines on the Lambos, that must really apply. It makes the rear portion sometimes look a little bloated and out out of proportion. But not on the little ones. The Huracán is a beautiful casting, and this premium version really shows it off.
But don’t give up on the big one. Hot Wheels has another coming and it looks really good...
But it may not surpass this one. It’s a fave.

Ranked: The 10 most exciting cars of the Geneva Motor Show 2019 | DriveTribe
Motor shows have had a bad wrap of late. Increasingly, they’re accused of being overly expensive and largely pointless. Manufacturers are reducing their efforts or not showing up at all, leaving shows like Paris at the tail end of last year with entire halls left empty.
But Geneva is different.
This is the biggest motor show in the world, and it’s still alive and well. It seems that everyone and their mums have brought along something new and exciting this year. There’s plenty of cutting-edge futuristic tech on display, as well as lots of really, really fast stuff. Of course, subjectively ranking newly revealed cars in order of ‘exciting-ness’ is an entirely pointless exercise. So... here's my list of the 10 most exciting cars from Geneva 2019.
Why is this the most exciting car at Geneva 2019? Surely it’s just another typically mad hypercar from those Swedish blokes who exclusively build mad hypercars. Business as usual, no? Sort of. Except this one is a bit special - because it could very well be the world's first 300mph roadcar.
That’s not confirmed yet. Christian Von Koenigsegg says the car has managed it in simulators, and he’s confident it will do it in real life. And this is not a man who makes unsubstantiated claims - this is the man behind the Agera RS - the current fastest car in the world.
So what’s new? Well, same old 5-litre twin-turbo V8 except it’s lighter now, and revs higher. Meaning you get 1,578bhp. And a massive wing. Oh, and it’s named after his dad, so it’s adorable as well as terrifying.

Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Roadster - 759 Roofless Horsepower
With 759 horsepower and a 217-mph top speed, the Roadster is just as absurd as the coupe.
The Aventador SVJ roadster has debuted at the Geneva auto show, and it's exactly what we expected.
It shares the SVJ coupe's 759-hp engine and 217-mph top speed.
The SVJ roadster will start at more than $570,000 when it goes on sale this summer.
It's pretty much a given that when a new Lamborghini coupe comes out, a droptop model is sure to follow. This has yet again been proven true with the Aventador SVJ roadster, which has just debuted at the Geneva auto show. As the name says, this is an Aventador SVJ coupe with the roof lopped off—and no other changes made.

Your Ridiculously Awesome Lamborghini Gallardo Wallpapers Are Here
The formula is really quite simple. Take a strikingly handsome vehicle to an interesting location, wait until golden hour and capture a few snaps. That’s really all it takes to make a great Weekend Wallpaper submission. Of course, you have to know how to frame the shot, and set up your camera to capture the scene, and post-process it, and okay, so maybe it isn’t so simple.
Arlen Liverman knew exacly what they were doing when capturing these Lamborghini shots. The Gallardo has been off the market now for almost five years, but it still looks pretty damn good. It’s a lot sleeker than most of the fast sports cars on the market today, and certainly has the angularity we loved Lamborghini for all its existence. Maybe we didn’t know what we had until it was gone?
You can check out more of Arlen’s work on their website, amlphotographs.com, or on Instagram: @aml_photos

Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder – Open-Air Fun and 202 MPH
This open-topped Lamborghini could be the world's fastest wedge-shaped tanning booth. It makes its debut at the Geneva auto show in March.
Lamborghini will introduce this topless version of its Huracán Evo coupe at the Geneva auto show in early March.
The new model is claimed to feature five times the downforce and aerodynamic efficiency of the previous Huracán Spyder.
With a 5.5-liter V-10 engine derived from the Huracán Performante, it provides a claimed 3.1-second zero-to-60-mph time and a top speed of 202 mph.
Lamborghini has a well-documented history of wringing numerous variants out of every model it makes. So, when the comprehensively refreshed and more powerful 2019 Huracán debuted with the Evo moniker as a permanent addition to its name, we collectively mused, "I wonder when the Spyder version will hit?" That time is now, and the 2020 Lamborghini Huracán Evo Spyder is here to flip the wigs of anyone who gets behind the wheel.
Like the Huracán Evo coupe, the Huracán Evo Spyder borrows its 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V-10 engine from the Performante versions of the Huracán. Rated at 631 horsepower at 8000 rpm and 442 lb-ft of torque at 6500 rpm, it's a multi-alloy, rotating mass of a love letter to the waning days of engines that inhale without assistance.

The best Lamborghini Hot Wheels has ever done is in the latest batch of Entertainment, and how great are the 6-spoke Real Riders? – theLamleyGroup
And how long is that blog title? At least I got all that I wanted into the title.
Because, yes, the Dr Strange Lamborghini is, to me, the best Lamborghini Hot Wheels has done. And they have done some good ones, but not this good. I kind of figured that when I saw it at the Hot Wheels Convention last year, but now in hand in my collection? Absolutely.
And that Advan Acura ain’t too shabby either. All part of the latest batch of Entertainment. And it seemed a good time to look at all the models that are sporting the new “TE37-inspired” 6-spoke. As much as love the JDM 4-spokes, the 6-spokes are the most significant wheel in the Real Rider arsenal, as they allow for so many more good castings to go premium and look correct.
Enjoy the video...

Ask any racer, any real racer … there’s nothing like the Fast & Furious film franchise to capture the insanity (and by insanity, we mean awesomeness) of street racing. Check out the latest Hot Wheels Replica Entertainment showing up in Australia – theLamleyGroup
First Matchbox, and now Hot Wheels. New stuff, all in Australia.
Our friend Peter Tran (@lilthug101 on IG) came across the latest Replica Entertainment at Target Australia, and it’s a nice mix. Back to the Future, Gas Monkey, Marvel, and Project Cars. A nice variety for sure.
Peter picked up the two I would pick up as well. The brand new Acura NSX GT3 from Project Cars and the Lamborghini Huracan from Dr Strange.
The Acura is brand new, and is set to hit in the next batch of Car Culture as well. The Lamborghini is clean, and an easy addition to the collection.
You might also notice the Replica Entertainment blisters have changed. The packaging is now in line with Pop Culture and Car Culture, streamlining the premium lines. It makes a ton of sense.
Thank Peter for the photos.

Top 10 Most Expensive Cars in the World 2017 - The Drive
We've compiled a list of the world's 10 most expensive cars (more or less) on the market.
The number of supercars and hypercars is growing at a fast clip. That means competition for the most expensive car in the world title is also growing. From the Lamborghini Veneno Roadster to the McLaren P1 to the Aston Martin Valkyrie, expensive, high-ticket rarities are crowding the top of the market. Surprisingly, a most expensive car list is not as easy to make as you might think. The prices for the most expensive cars fluctuate depending on customer build requests, which—among the buyers of the world's most expensive cars—can get rather baroque.
To assemble the list, we tried to filter out the wide spectrum of suspect vapor, such as the late Marussia, the Zenvo TS1, and the Icona Vulcano Titanium, and instead went with cars that have established sales, something of a history, and at least partially verifiable base prices—Lamborghini, McLaren, Bugatti, and Pagani, and Koenigsegg, among others.

The first group of 2019 Hot Wheels Red Editions has hit Target – theLamleyGroup
From Lamley’s RCR (Resident California Reporter) @hw_jay, news that Hot Wheels 2019 C Cases, with Red Editions, have hit Target stores.
If you are not familiar, the Red Editions are Target exclusive basic models. They share the same deco as the mainline cars, but have exclusive colors. Hot Wheels releases 12 a year in groups of three.
The Golf is the first I have seen in black, but the red Momo logo and red-lipped wheels make it the exclusive. The other two are easy to see. Once I get a chance to get out I will go look. You should too.

More exclusive than a supercar: A beginner’s guide to buying a GT3 race car | Ars Technica
Automakers are selling hundreds of these turn-key racing supercars.
In the past decade, the well-worn automotive cliché Race on Sunday, sell on Monday has taken a surprising twist. Now, automakers have realized that they can race on Sunday and sell race cars on Monday. If you've got the money, Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi, Acura, Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Nissan, Bentley, and more have a race car for you—for around $500,000.
The rise in popularity of supercars worldwide has been paralleled by explosive growth in international GT3 class sportscar racing. GT3 cars are racing versions of the road-going supercars/GT cars that star in video games, YouTube channels, and print platforms. Instead of being built to a specific set of technical rules, in GT3 each make of car is benchmarked and then "performance balanced" by the FIA (the sporting organization that governs world motorsport) to create a relatively level playing field.

The new Hot Wheels S15 is cool, but don’t sleep on the other Forza models. – theLamleyGroup
Buy the set. Just buy the set.
Within a few weeks, you will walk into Walmart, and much to your amusement, you will see the new Forza set hanging on the pegs. “Holy shit!” you will say as you notice the S15 Silvia is there. In fact, two!
You grab them both, make quick glance for any Supers on the basic pegs, and then high tail to the registers. Within a minute you are in your car, smiling at your luck. The next thought that must go through you head at that point, however, is not to start the car, but rather return inside and buy at least one of the other cars.
There might be someone else in there, looking at the pegs themselves, mumbling that the S15 is gone. That is where you mention “the local scalper” probably got them, split the leftovers with the other person, and get back to your car.
Good move. You have them all. You won’t regret it.

Video is done, now time for the pics. Let’s start with the Hot Wheels Forza card art. – theLamleyGroup
As expected, the response to the new Forza Motorsports set in the Hot Wheels Entertainment line has been, let’s say, positive. The talk will be the Silvia, but there isn’t a weak model in the group. So each model deserves a photo showcase, and those are coming.
For now, let’s focus on the card art. Julian Koiles, the Car Culture art guru, is the one to credit here, and that isn’t a surprise. There is surely a Car Culture vibe to the art, with a theme running through all five models, and that perfect “sunset” touch to make it far more interesting. I don’t think there will be a special boxed set for these – that was a TRU thing – but I wish there were. Still, Julian seems the only one that makes me keep a carded set, AFTER I open the first.

Hot Wheels and Lamborghini, the set | Two Lane Desktop
I always like when Hot Wheels creates special sets to mark a certain company and making some European brands like BMW, Honda, and Porsche is very sweet.  Last year Hot Wheels released the Lamborghini set of eight sleek models from the Hot Wheels line and while I did get a few I didn’t get the whole set so I substituted a few of them for some unique ones from my collection, including one that is hard-to-find and in demand.

Watch the World's Fastest Camera Car in Action
The world’s fastest camera car is a $200,000 Lamborghini Huracán dubbed the “Huracam” that was recently modified to have a gyro-stabilized camera rig on its frunk. Here’s a 1-minute video showing what this beast of a camera car can do.
The 5-axis gyro-stabilized mount can take any camera and lens combo and keep it stable up to 3000mm and 380 knots. The gimbal has a “slew rate” of 240-degrees per second.
Having the Huracan’s speed and power (0-60 in 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 180+ mph) allows the driver and camera operator to keep up with other sports cars on a racetrack while running off the race line that the subject is driving, producing shots that other camera cars can’t.

This $200,000 Lamborghini is the World's Fastest Camera Car
Behold the world’s fastest camera car. This modified $200,000 Lamborghini Huracán supercar features a gyro-stabilized camera rig on its frunk, allowing to keep up with the world’s fastest cars for photo and video shoots.
The one-of-a-kind camera car is the creation of the team at Incline Dynamic Outlet, which leases and operates the world’s smallest and most advanced gyro-stabilized camera platforms.
While working on the production of The Deadliest Catch recently, the team decided it needed a camera rig to go faster than the existing setups they had.

Sliding with the Bulls: Ice Driving at Lamborghini’s Winter Accademia | News | Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog
Generally speaking, it’s more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slowly. But after spending a whole day driving Lamborghinis on a frozen lake about two hours northeast of Montreal, Quebec, we’ve had to rethink that. Indeed, driving a Lamborghini Huracán or an Aventador on a frozen lake in Canada or anywhere, honestly, will have you rethinking a lot of things—your financial goals, your aversion to cold, your life choices, the basic tenets of physics—but one thing seems truer than ever as you watch $4.5 million worth of angry-looking carbon-fiber and aluminum beasts charging around a curvy path carved into the snow, their bright Skittles-color paints contrasting strikingly against the snowy white backdrop: Rich folks really do have more fun.
We were there to participate in Lamborghini’s Winter Accademia, a two-day ice driving program which the company has hosted in certain global markets annually since 2012 that highlights the winter-friendliness of Lamborghini’s all-wheel-drive supercars—an understandably incredulous notion to the uninitiated. And here you thought the upcoming Urus was going to be the “winter Lamborghini.”

Volkswagen Wants to Build You a Race Car | News | Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog
Just a few years ago, the various marques of the Volkswagen Group competed in a wide array of top-level motorsports. But that was then. These days, you won’t see Touaregs tackling the Dakar or Polos dominating the World Rally Championship. Audi and Porsche have pulled their hybrid prototypes from Le Mans and the FIA World Endurance Championship. And no VW Group brand is represented in Formula 1, Indy, or (unsurprisingly) NASCAR, either. Audi still competes in Germany’s DTM touring-car series and, as Porsche soon will, also backs a team in Formula E. But that’s about as close as any Volkswagen brands get to a factory racing effort nowadays.
The world’s largest automaker hasn’t given up on motorsports, though. It’s just taking a different approach. In fact, the Volkswagen Group produces a stalwart array of competition machinery. But instead of spending millions fielding those machines itself, it has built a business around selling its race and rally cars to customer teams. If you have a big enough budget, you can buy one, too.

2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder: Max Performance, Max Headroom | News | Car and Driver
Equal parts predictable and psychotic.
Lamborghini already sells its mid-engined Huracán supercar in convertible, or Spyder, form. And, for those who find the standard Huracán’s 602-hp 5.2-liter V-10 a little wanting, there’s the more extreme Huracán Performante, which bumps output up to 631 horsepower. You could probably see the next move coming: That’s right, Lamborghini will now marry those two variants in one Huracán, the just-announced Performante Spyder. Sometimes, running an exotic carmaker seems not so complicated.
As with the coupe, elevating the Spyder to Performante status involves more than just upping the power output. There’s additional torque, too—30 lb-ft, for a total of 443. The enhanced V-10 sends its fury to all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. In our test of the Performante coupe, it was enough for a 2.3-second zero-to-60-mph time (0.2 second better than the standard version), as well as a 10.2-second quarter-mile, at the end of which the Performante is traveling 136 mph. Whether the Spyder will exactly match those insane figures, we’ll have to see, but its maker’s acceleration claims for the Spyder equal those for the coupe, aside from a 201-mph top speed that is but a single mile per hour slower.

Top 7 fastest naturally aspirated road cars ever | DriveTribe
Natural aspiration has been falling down a slippery slope ever since the dawn of forced induction, with atmospheric performance engines now being chased with pitchforks and torches to the far flung reaches of the automotive world.
Twin-turbocharging is now the go-to method of creating supercar levels of power but there's still something to be said for a highly tuned, bored-out naturally aspirated engine. 2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante Test | Review | Car and Driver
The Performante leverages physics into something more.
Science and reason tend to marginalize our awareness of it as we age, but there is magic left in the world. A rich vein of it can be mined from the very name “Lamborghini,” and the Huracán Performante crackles with the stuff.
A drivable special occasion that feels capable of warping space-time.

Lamley Daily: Tarmac Works Global64 Lamborghini Aventador SV – the Lamley Group
Model: Tarmac Works Lamborghini Aventador SV
Line: GLOBAL64 1/64
Where to get it: The Tarmac Works store and SURPLUSgoodies
Why it’s in the collection: Tarmac Works has jumped in head first to 1/64, and is making waves. The premium Hobby64 line is where the precise details are, but the GLOBAL64 line, which is technically supposed to be the simpler, less-detailed, cheaper line, is not far behind.
The GLOBAL64 models don’t have the licensed racing liveries, but they are still ultra-realistic. Rubber tires, tons of detail, and yes, they roll. So far, the models have been stock or police, and that is a nice combo.
While I am not a huge fan of Lamborghinis, this and the R8 are instant additions.

Kia Destroys A Lamborghini | DriveTribe
Say you're shopping around for a new Lamborghini Aventador, you might want to also consider the new Kia Forte. That's what Kia Motors America would like you to think, in this very tongue in cheek video about their all new compact sedan, the Kia Forte. They have cleverly stated what we've known all along about supercars: They're not at all practical. When it comes to transporting your kids around, grabbing groceries, and just doing everyday things, the six figure supercars get utterly destroyed by normal commuter cars that have been specifically designed to make your life better.
Kudos to Kia for making a fantastic video and making us gearheads chuckle for a little bit.

Matchbox starts 2018 with a new premium wheel and a new premium line – the Lamley Group
(UPDATE! The Globe Travelers are now available at Wheel Collectors at this link.)
This was a surprise. A couple of weeks ago a few Matchbox collectors made their way to the York Toy Show and were very surprised to see the brand new Globe Travelers Premium Series from Matchbox. No one, including Abe Lugo at Matchbox, knew they had been released.
I still don’t know if they have. Mattel distribution can get a little wonky, and sometimes some sellers get things a little early. That made for quite a treat for those that came across them at the Toy Show. One of those was Jeff van Leliveld (aka @3inchdiecastbliss on IG). He snagged a set, and posted the pics of the models and packaging on his blog, and was nice enough to let me share them here...

2019 Lamborghini Urus SUV Arrives with 641 HP | News | Car and Driver
The brand's second utility vehicle after the 1980s LM002 takes the super-SUV to entirely new levels.
Lamborghini’s first SUV, the unmistakably ’80s LM002, was a military-grade brute powered by a screaming V-12 engine. While it seemed completely offbeat at the time, it turned out to be prescient given today’s ever-expanding array of ultra-luxury, high-performance SUVs from the likes of Bentley, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Maserati, and, soon, Ferrari and Aston Martin.
So there’s no time like the present for Lamborghini to jump back into the fray with the 2019 Urus. The company’s second ever SUV is over the top, too, but for completely different reasons than the LM002. The Urus, which derives its name from an ancient species of cattle, stuns with its 641 horsepower, its dramatic wedge-shaped silhouette, and its ambition to be as capable around a racetrack as it is on the sand dunes.

2019 Lamborghini Huracan: What It May Gain | News | Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog
Flush with Audi technology and betting the Urus will double company sales, Lamborghini is willing to radicalize the Huracán beyond a typical supercar refresh.
When an updated Huracán arrives in late 2018 or early 2019, it could adapt rear-wheel steering from the Aventador S and a 48-volt electrical subsystem similar to those in the Audi SQ7 and Bentley Bentayga. As we’ve experienced, Lamborghini’s rear-wheel steering shrinks the Aventador’s impossibly wide, truckish footprint to that of a lighter, smaller sports car, so imagine what it could do for the lighter, smaller Huracán. According to a senior Lamborghini engineer, the issue of cost—even in a Lamborghini—has executives wavering since the Huracán is supposed to be the “entry level” supercar.

Lamborghini Terzo Millennio EV Concept Uses Energy-Storing Body Panels | News | Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog
Lamborghini, the automaker that wears a flame-throwing V-12 engine on its sleeve, is finally doing an electric hypercar. But the engineers in Sant’Agata Bolognese refuse to do one like everyone else.
The Terzo Millennio is a static design mockup for battery technology that won’t exist for at least another few years. Never mind those illuminated orange wheels and the nonexistent suspension that makes the Terzo lower than a household vacuum cleaner. The Terzo’s real tricks are carbon-fiber nanotubes and supercapacitors that will release an immense amount of energy without any bulky battery packs.

Lamborghini Countach SV – Combining The Past And The Present | DriveTribe
Looking at the banner of this blog, you're probably having something of an "is it a bird? Is it a plane?" moment - or more specifically, an "is it an Aventador? Is it a Countach?" moment. Well, in the immortal words of the Axis of Awesome, this car is a motherfuckin' Birdplane – because it's both!
Apparently, it's not called an Aventacount, because that's copyrighted as a name given to a South American event for incompetent people (take your time; you'll work it out). It's not even called the Countador, because in Spain, that's what they call doormen who aren't very nice. What it is being called by the designer – YasidDesign – is the Countach SV.
The Countach SV was etched as a way of bringing the styling traits of an Aventador SV onto an old Lamborghini Countach. Not only that, the Countach has also received a quick facelift, and it's also been accoutered with the side-skirts from the Huracan.

Lamborghini Introduces Huracan Super Trofeo Evo Race Car | News | Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog
When the Lamborghini Veneno first came out, we thought it was kind of a poseur race car, but now it has been redeemed. That’s because many of its outlandish aero bits are now on a real race car, the new Huracán Super Trofeo Evo.
Compared to the current Huracán Super Trofeo LP620-2 that has lapped tracks since 2014, the Super Trofeo Evo shoots for less drag with the same downforce. A central dorsal fin is the most obvious change, but the entire rear of the car gets a rethink, with flat fender extensions bolted to a redesigned rear splitter that retains nothing of the stock bumper. With the top snorkel funneling air into the engine, Lamborghini reshaped the rear quarter-panels and deleted their side air scoops. Designers enlarged the lower brake cooling ducts, angled them away from the rear wheels, and added winglets. The front fenders add new extensions, while the front diffuser takes inspiration from the Huracán Performante. A central vent (hexagonal, of course) and deeper radiator pockets complete the new hood. Should the Evo land on its side, a roof hatch allows the driver a quick escape.

Top 10 Fastest Cars in the World 2017 | The Drive - The Drive
When automakers throw cost and reason out the window and say, "just how fast can we really go?", they build these cars.
Buying a fast car today is shockingly easy: in top V-6 spec, even the stolid, workaday Toyota Camry will hit 129 mph—and that's an electronically-limited top speed. But, like the difference between your self-professed Crossfit "athlete" friend and, say, an Olympic wrestler, it's one thing to be ready for an autobahn sprint at a moment's notice and another to hold the title of Fastest Car in the World. At the most elite level, current numbers even for production cars are approaching the ludicrous: zero-to-60 mph times are thumping on the two-second floor, and whereas it took more than a century after the invention of the automobile to hit the 200-mph mark in a road-legal production car (that honor belonging to the Ferrari F40, which in 1987 topped out at a tick over 202 mph), just thirty years after that the new Bugatti Chiron can reportedly go straight from the dealer showroom to 261 mph—suggesting 300 mph is not too far down the road.

2018 Lamborghini Huracan Performante First Drive | Review | Car and Driver
As flashy as always and faster than ever.
For those of us who have been interested in fast cars since the 1970s, the lingering impression remains that Lamborghinis are long on looks and big, loud engines and short on sophistication, technology, and refinement. This started changing in 1998 after Audi purchased Lamborghini, and the transition accelerated with the introduction of the Gallardo about five years later. With every subsequent new car, Lamborghini has gotten more serious about offering a more complete set of automotive virtues. The most impressive one yet is the new Huracán Performante.
