Autopsy of a Failed Holacracy: Lessons in Justice, Equity, and Self-Management - Non Profit News | Nonprofit Quarterly
Very insightful analysis of the shortcomings of Holacracy:
– how it doesn’t account for power structures beyond formal organisational power
– how it dictates processes that might now fit in every environment,
– how it creates a formally equal and “colour blind” space, gaslighting those who struggle with the complex interpersonal power dynamics that go unaddressed
– etc.

Thinking, Fast and Slow von Daniel Kahneman. Bücher | Orell Füssli
I keep stumbling over this book.

… explains the two systems that drive the way we think. System 1 is fast, intuitive, and emotional; System 2 is slower, more deliberative, and more logical. He exposes the extraordinary capabilities, and also the faults and biases, of fast thinking, and reveals the pervasive influence of intuitive impressions on our thoughts and behavior. He reveals where we can and cannot trust our intuitions and how we can tap into the benefits of slow thinking. He offers practical and enlightening insights into how choices are made in both our business and our personal lives, and how we can use different techniques to guard against the mental glitches that often get us into trouble…

Deep Work von Cal Newport. Bücher | Orell Füssli
Many modern knowledge workers now spend most of their brain power battling distraction and interruption, whether because of the incessant pinging of devices, noisy open-plan offices or the difficulty of deciding what deserves your attention the most.
When Cal Newport coined the term 'deep work' on his popular blog, Study Hacks, in 2012, he found the concept quickly hit a nerve. Most of us, after all, are excruciatingly familiar with shallow work instead - distractedly skimming the surface of our workload and never getting to the important part. Newport began exploring the methods and mindset that foster a practice of distraction-free productivity at work, and now, in DEEP WORK, he shows how anyone can achieve this elusive state.

Meltdown of the Phantom Snowflakes | Laurie Penny
“If being strong means denying the humanity of others, following tyrants, dealing out violence, then make me weak. Make me soft. Give me the fortitude of vulnerability, the might of a flake in a snowbank ready to carve out mountains.”

Against Bargaining | Laurie Penny
Laury Penny about keeping up the resistance during Donald Trump’s 4-year mandate. Normalising it is so tempting, “…It is a survival strategy, and like many such strategies, it is largely available to those with least to lose.”
“In the coming months and years those of us who still believe in a better world will need to guard the most important frontline—the one in the head.”

We’re heading into dark times. This is how to be your own light in the Age of Trump
At the dawn of Donald Trump’s 4 years in office this essay urges people to take a step back and consider their wished, values, dreams for themselves and the country. After months or years of Trump’s cabinet governing and possibly corrupting the US it might not be so clear anymore which values to hold on to. Tump carries out the strategies of an authoritarian regime. All people have to resist is their own core values.
