Mac keyboard shortcuts - Matt Gemmell
I recently wrote an article about being productive on a small screen, which mentioned my belief that the most effective route to productivity on a computer is learning the available keyboard shortcuts.

In this piece, I’d like to share some of the keyboard shortcuts and related functionality that I use every day on the Mac.

Setting AppleDisplayScaleFactor for single applications - Mac OS X Hints
Apples hidden AppleDisplayScaleFactor provides a means to set the UI display scaling factor, a feature which has been built into Mac OS X since Tiger (I think) but has never been exploited so far (probably due to the difficulties from moving from pixel-oriented graphics to a more generic concept).

Sidestep | Chetan Surpur
When you connect to an insecure network, Sidestep opens an SSH tunnel with the proxy server, and then sets the Mac OS X system-wide SOCKS proxy to use this SSH connection. And since most Mac applications (including browsers) use this system-wide proxy to connect to the Internet through, they will all end up using the encrypted SSH tunnel.

Dia - GNOME Live!
Dia is roughly inspired by the commercial Windows program 'Visio', though more geared towards informal diagrams for casual use. It can be used to draw many different kinds of diagrams. It currently has special objects to help draw entity relationship diagrams, UML diagrams, flowcharts, network diagrams, and many other diagrams. It is also possible to add support for new shapes by writing simple XML files, using a subset of SVG to draw the shape.
