Making browsers faster: Resource Packages · Alexander Limi
"What if there was a backwards compatible way to transfer all of the resources that are used on every single page in your site — CSS, JS, images, anything else — in a single HTTP request at the start of the first visit to the page? This is what Resource Package support in browsers will let you do."

FindMeByIP
"FindMeByIP enables you to easily find out information about your clients' web browser and operating environment." Slightly buggy (thinks Firefox 3.7 is IE!) but provides a lot of detail on browser support for HTML, CSS, &c. using Modernizr.

IE8 ’<noscript>-ghost’ appearance bug
You can't style <noscript> with a border or background colour, otherwise IE8 will show a 'ghost' - a small square with the background colour/border around it. The solution: put a div inside the noscript tag and style that. Ugh.

The Conkeror Web Browser Conquers Small Screens
Crikey Moses, this is a wonderful browser if you're on a little computer like an Eee PC. The fiddly Emacs-ish key combos might take a bit of gettig used to, mind.

Uzbl - a browser that adheres to the unix philosophy.
Ultra-minimal browser based on Webkit - I'm not sure I have the patience to get it set up for everyday browsing, but it might be nice to use as a dedicated browser for, eg. Google Reader. (It launches much quicker than Prism.)

Choosy - A smarter default browser for Mac OS X
"Forget the “default browser”, Choosy lets you open links in the browser you want. Just set up a few simple options and Choosy will do the right thing, whether that's opening a browser or letting you pick from some or all of the browsers on your system." Great little utility.

Seth's Blog: Why downloading Firefox is like getting into college
Interesting, true, but I also know plenty of decidedly non-geeky, non-web savvy types who use Firefox, without "customising" their computer in any other way. i.e. (pun intended) it's not always a gateway drug.

Macworld | The browser bunch
Good comparative review of browsers on the Mac. I use Firefox (mostly for the del.icio.us add-on and Greasemonkey, which I need on a couple of sites I use heavily) and WebKit nightly builds for when I know I'll just be tootling around the web (it's fast).

The tab sidebar extension, if you haven't heard of it already, provides a sidebar in the browser that can act as a replacement to the main tab bar, with extras. The most obvious extra is that each tab includes a preview of the web page that is continually
