The Agrippa Files
december 2008 by mottram
"Agrippa (a book of the dead) appeared in 1992 as a collaboration between artist Dennis Ashbaugh, author William Gibson, and publisher Kevin Begos, Jr." It included pages that faded over time, and a Gibson poem that "ran from a diskette once before encrypting itself into oblivion".

PostSpectacular: Faber Finds generative book covers
september 2008 by mottram
"A year ago Faber & Faber commissioned me to help with the design of a software system to generate complete & print ready book covers for their new imprint. The challenge proved to be more of a creative than a technical one, as the task given was to build a “design machine” which would be flexible enough to generate a very large (theoretically infinite) number of unique designs, one for each single book ever printed in this range, within the agreed boundaries set by the art direction(s) of Faber design team."

Doug got me this for my birthday. Read it in a day, found it to be good fun but poorly structured and with a complete flop of an ending - reading the reviews after the fact, I'm mystefied by the hype.

What Should I Read Next? [404]
august 2005 by mottram
Nice enough idea, but I've entered a whole slew of favourite books and all the suggestions are books I've already read (which is not to say that I'm well read, rather that this site isn't very good. Or maybe too good, I'm not sure.)
