I love this stuff, when a diss writer takes a moment to look closely at a related phenom - in this case, the use of faux to create authenticity. Faux-photos are a fad, yes, but the drive for ways to realize or represent the authentic in the (unsatsfying?) digital is a common trope. In digital writing, it's immediacy. In lit, it's detail of Proust and Joyce. As I said, I love this stuff.
