In this tutorial you'll create a service that alphabetically sorts paragraphs selected in a text editor application.

Even though there are 512x512 pixel icon representations for all Apple apps, the Dock stays at 128 pixels maximum when using the Sie slider in the Dock's System Preferences panel. This old hint explains how to set the magnification level to up to 512 pixels
(using the largesize key; defaults write com.apple.dock largesize -int 512).

Here's how to change the tile size (the maximum non-magnified dock icon size) to go along with the supersized zoomed icons. In Terminal, enter this command:

defaults write com.apple.dock tilesize -int 256; killall Dock

The tile size may be up to 256 pixels, so don't go any higher than that. Note that icons above 128 pixels are scaled, and you can notice some pixelation.

The Shroom burger was far too large and wonky, but I fried it anyway.

kassetten:
- 7fach kassetten können auf 8 / 9fach naben (die eine identische freilaubreite haben) mittels eines distanzrings montiert werden
- 8 / 9fach kassetten können nicht auf 7fach naben montiert werden, da sie um ein ritzel breiter sind als die 7fach
- 8 / 9fach kassetten sind von der gesamtbreite her identisch, können also was die montage auf dem freilauf angeht beliebig ersetzt werden, die shifter müssen jedoch zur kassette passen

ketten:
- 7 / 8fach ketten sind untereinander beliebig variierbar, da die beiden ketten (aufgrund der identischen ritzelabstände der 7 / 8fach kassetten) auch gleich breit sind
- 9fach ketten sollten auf 9fach kassetten gefahren werden, 7 / 8fach ketten funktionieren auf 9fach kassetten nicht oder nur sehr eingeschränkt mit schleifen und verschleiß

schaltwerke:
- schaltwerke sind 7 / 8 / 9fach kompatibel und können beliebig mit allen ritzeln kombiniert werden

kurbeln:
- kurbeln sind recht "unempfindlich" was die verwendeten kettenbreiten etc. angeht. da 8 / 9fach gleich breite kassetten haben, kann jede 8fach kurbel auch mit 9fach kassette und kette und umgekehrt gefahren werden, kurbeln sind auch 7fach kompatibel ohne schaltkomforteinbußen

analog zu den kurbeln

Den Umwerfer zuerst auf korrekte Montage am Rahmen prüfen. Die Leitbleche sollten parallel zu den Kettenblättern verlaufen und beim Bewegen des Umwerfers sollte dieser sauber über die Kettenblätter hin bewegt werden können, ohne diese zu streifen.

Für eine Neueinstellung dann die beiden Begrenzerschrauben so weit rausdrehen, dass der Kopf der Schraube etwas über den Umwerferkörper rausguck. Die innere Schraube ist für das kleine KB und die äußere fürs große ...

Aufs kleine Kettenblatt schalten, hinten aufs größte Ritzel. Dann den Zug des Umwerfers lösen, dazu mit nem 5er Inbus die Zugklemmschraube aufmachen. Ggf. an den Schalthebeln das Drehrad für die Schaltzugspannung ganz reindrehen.

Die innere Einstellschraube (fürs kleine KB) so weit reindrehen, bis das rahmenseitige innere Leitblech noch ein klein wenig luft zur Kette hat - ca. 2 mm sind etwa ok, ansonsten schleift es ggf. im Wiegetritt.

Den Zug von Hand straff spannen und festschrauben. Er sollte nicht richtig rumlummeln, aber auch nicht zu stark gespannt sein. Mit normaler Handkraft passt das meist perfekt.

Danach hinten aufs kleinste Ritzel und vorne auf das große KB schalten. Die äußere Begrenzerschraube so weit reindrehen, bis das äußere Leitblech grade noch Luft zur Kette hat, auch hier so ca. 2mm Abstand lassen.

Für das mittlere KB kann die Umwerferposition dann noch über die Schaltzungspannung reguliert werden.

Das Schaltwerk am Schaltauge montieren. Prüfen, ob das Schaltauge gerade steht und das Schaltwerk senkrecht nach unten zeigt!

Die untere Begrenzung für das kleine Ritzel einstellen, in dem man an der oberen der beiden Schrauben auf der Rückseite des Schaltwerks dreht. So lange an der Schraube drehen, bis das obere Schaltröllchen minimal rechts (von hinten betrachtet) neben dem kleinsten Ritzel steht.

Nun den Zug einführen und mit der Hand spannen. Anschliessend mit einem 5er Inbus festschrauben.

Danach auf das größte Ritzel schalten. An der Einstellschraube für die obere Begrenzung (der unteren der beiden Schrauben) drehen, bis das obere Schaltröllchen genau unter dem größten steht.

Anschliessend in die Mitte des Ritzelpaketes schalten und mit der Einstellschraube für die Zugspannung (hinten am Schaltwerk wo die Zughülle reingeht) die Spannung durch drehen an der Schraube so regulieren, daß das obere Schaltröllchen wiederum genau unter dem jeweiligen Ritzel steht.

Funktioniert die Schaltung bei einem Service auch nach mehrmaligem prüfen von Begrenzung und Zugspannung nicht, empfiehlt es sich, den Zug zu lösen und den gesamten Setup kurz von vorne komplett zu machen. Dies führt in fast allen Fällen schneller zu einer perfekt eingestellten Schaltung, als langes rumprobieren an einer schlechten Grundeinstellung!

Open the 1Password app on your Mac and click over to the Logins area. You’ll see a big ass list of all of the logins currently stored in 1Password (duh). Now, I want you to position the main 1Password window right next to your favorite web browser.

Next, click and drag one of your commonly used 1Password logins onto your browser’s bookmark bar, like this:

You just created a bookmark for a website that you commonly use, but now it will automatically fire up 1Password and fill in the login for you and—if you have it configured to automatically submit login forms—just log you right in.

First, you need to sort your files by label; to do this, click the Arrange button in the Finder toolbar, then select Label from the list. (If you don’t see that button, choose View > Customize Toolbar and add it.) If you haven’t yet assigned labels to any of the files in the current directory, the Finder will sort them all into a single No Label category.

To make use of adipoos’s trick, you need to create a section for the label(s) you want to apply; to do that, you need to assign that label to at least one file. So, if you want to apply the Red label to a bunch of files, at least one file or folder must already be labeled Red.

To add a label to a file in the No Label section, just drag it from there into one of the sections labeled with a color; that label color will be applied immediately. Similarly, you can remove a label by dragging a file or folder from one of the colored sections into the No Label category.

If you’re in List, Column or Cover Flow view, you need to drag the file onto the label name at the top of its section. In Column view, the file’s color will change, but it won’t immediately move to the new section; if you navigate to another folder then back to the original, the file should appear in the correct section.

If you select a video in your iTunes library—this could be a music video, TV show, or concert video—and look in the Advanced menu, the Create AAC Version menu command is dimmed. (The format might be MP3 or Apple Lossless, depending on your import settings in iTunes' General preferences.) But if you press the Option key, this menu item changes to Convert to AAC (or, again, MP3 or Apple Lossless, depending on your settings). Select that command, and iTunes will happily rip the audio from the video.

Very useful little bit of software online. It's free as long as you don't try to overuse it, but for quick OCR tasks, it's pretty good.

I personally use it in apps like nvALT (a Notational Velocity fork), because the web app of Simplenote and almost no iPhone app supports tab keys.

In einem mit Quick Look schnell betrachteten Dokument lässt sich Text gewöhnlich weder auswählen noch kopieren, ein Tipp der Macworld ändert dies glücklicherweise unmittelbar:

Ins Terminal werfen und mit Return bestätigen - anschließend ist die Auswahl von Text in Quick-Look-Dokumenten möglich. Wer gerne per Dateianhängen in Mail.app eines schnellen Blickes würdigt und daraus ebenfalls gerne eine Textpassage kopieren möchte, greift zu:
defaults write com.apple.Mail QLEnableTextSelection -bool TRUE
Anschließend ist Mail.app nochmals frisch zu öffnen.
Um alles zurück in den Ausgangszustand zu versetzen:
defaults delete com.apple.finder QLEnableTextSelection; killall Finder

Lion introduced a new iOS-like Resume feature that allows apps to reopen with all documents, windows, and settings right where you left them. But if you want to override this setting on an app-by-app basis, simply hold the Shift key when starting an app. It will open to its native ‘clean slate,’ with none of the documents or windows you had open the last time you quit the app.
