A script and python module to check your AWS service limits and usage, and warn when usage approaches limits.

Users building out scalable services in Amazon AWS often run into AWS' service limits - often at the least convenient time (i.e. mid-deploy or when autoscaling fails). Amazon's Trusted Advisor can help this, but even the version that comes with Business and Enterprise support only monitors a small subset of AWS limits and only alerts weekly. awslimitchecker provides a command line script and reusable package that queries your current usage of AWS resources and compares it to limits (hard-coded AWS defaults that you can override, API-based limits where available, or data from Trusted Advisor where available), notifying you when you are approaching or at your limits.

Fcron is a scheduler. It aims at replacing Vixie Cron, so it implements most of its functionalities. But contrary to Vixie Cron, fcron does not need your system to be up 7 days a week, 24 hours a day : it also works well with systems which are running only occasionnally (contrary to anacrontab). In other words, fcron does both the job of Vixie Cron and anacron, but does even more and better :)) ...

Introducing Chronos: A Replacement for Cron
A distributed, fault-tolerant "cron" is something which comes up frequently -- it makes for a great fault-tolerance building block. This one sounds like it's too closely tied into Mesos, though (IMO).
Chronos is our replacement for cron. It is a distributed and fault-tolerant scheduler which runs on top of Mesos. It's a framework and supports custom mesos executors as well as the default command executor. Thus by default, Chronos executes SH (on most systems BASH) scripts. Chronos can be used to interact with systems such as Hadoop (incl. EMR), even if the mesos slaves on which execution happens do not have Hadoop installed. Included wrapper scripts allow transfering files and executing them on a remote machine in the background and using asynchroneous callbacks to notify Chronos of job completion or failures.
