Sephardic Challah With Whole Spices
The Sephardic and Mizrahi Jews (from North Africa) and the Middle East, have their own distinct traditional loaves. There, they use the raisins, eggs, and a full amount of honey to make a richer, festive Sephardic loaf that is delicious by itself. Leave it out for a lean, savory Mizrahi bread that goes beautifully with Moroccan tagines and Middle Eastern mezes, salads, and dips.

America: A Personal History of the United States
America: A Personal History of the United States is a British 13-part documentary television series about the United States and its history, commissioned by the BBC and made in partnership with Time-Life Films. It was written and presented by Alistair Cooke, and first broadcast in both the United Kingdom and the United States in 1972.[1] The producer was Michael Gill, who had the idea for the series and chose the presenter. A tie-in book, Alistair Cooke's America, which sold almost two million copies.[2]

The series was a great success in both countries and was nominated for both a Golden Globe Award and a BAFTA.[3][4] It also resulted in Cooke's invitation to address the joint Houses of the United States Congress as part of the Bicentennial celebrations. Cooke said that, of all his work, America was what he was most proud of; it is the result and expression of his long love for the country. (Once, asked how long it took him to make the series, Cooke replied "I do not want to be coy, but it took 40 years.")

Andrew Marr's History of the World
Andrew Marr's History of the World is a 2012 BBC documentary television series presented by Andrew Marr that covers 70,000 years of world history from the beginning of human civilisation, as African nomadic peoples spread out around the world and settled down to become the first farmers, up to the twentieth century.[1]

The series is noted for its elaborate, Hollywood-like recreations of many of the people and events on which Marr frames his story. Great care was taken in accurate costumes and the use of the original language of those portrayed. To this are added elaborate digital effects, such as a recreation of the Palace of Knossos or the diversionary channels dug to control flooding of the Yellow River.

HOW DOES OUR LANGUAGE SHAPE THE WAY WE THINK?
For a long time, the idea that language might shape thought was considered at best untestable and more often simply wrong. Research in my labs at Stanford University and at MIT has helped reopen this question. We have collected data around the world: from China, Greece, Chile, Indonesia, Russia, and Aboriginal Australia. What we have learned is that people who speak different languages do indeed think differently and that even flukes of grammar can profoundly affect how we see the world. Language is a uniquely human gift, central to our experience of being human. Appreciating its role in constructing our mental lives brings us one step closer to understanding the very nature of humanity.

cheese scones are a great tasting alternative to bought gluten free bread and much cheaper too. They work well as a snack or as part of lunch. Efforts to Address Gun Violence Should Not Include Increased Surveillance
Nationwide, people with mental health disabilities are already battling threats to their freedom and autonomy. The current legal landscape has established numerous mechanisms to track, threaten, and incarcerate those who present with mental health disabilities. When coupled with renewed threats to privacy rights in the proposed changes to HIPAA and FERPA, a system takes shape in which an entire class of people is functionally criminalized based on their mental health status and the presumption of violence with which it has been falsely associated.

$50 could have saved him, but his GoFundMe pitch didn’t get the clicks
One study in 2009 found that 45,000 deaths a year are associated with lack of health insurance. Medical debt is currently the most common reason people are contacted by debt collectors, and in a 2017 poll 63 percent of Americans said a large medical debt they can’t afford is worse or equal to the serious illness itself.

Putting the burden on fundraisers for our medical care has become de facto institutionalized to the point that our doctors are recommending it. It should not be that way. Even the CEO of GoFundme thinks so.

The History of White Power By Kathleen Belew

Healthcare In Iceland Vs. The US: We’ve Got It So Good
The US spends a shit-ton on healthcare, and it hasn’t made the folks there any healthier. A 2014 Bloomberg survey of healthcare efficiency by nation derives its rankings by measuring average life expectancies against government spending on health care. On that list, the US ranks a miserable 44th (eat that, Bulgaria! Sorry, Iceland wasn’t studied). The chart toppers were surprising to me: Singapore, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, South Korea… As diverse as these places are, the countries at the top of that list have one thing in common: tight governmental control over a universal system of health care.

Best 100 Marvel Graphic Novels & Stories Since 2000 | Comic Book Herald
It’s been my goal since starting Comic Book Herald to help readers and new (or lapsed) comic fans navigate the modern Marvel Universe. In my estimate, that has always been since just before the turn of the century, as Marvel Knights, the Ultimate Universe, and the editorial reign of Joe Quesada rose from the ashes of Heroes Reborn.

I never really thought about what it might look like if this modern Marvel era ended. With Secret Wars set to launch the Marvel Universe into a new state of being (however dramatic that may be), it’s suddenly a fantastic time to look back on the era as a whole. What were the best Marvel stories told from 1998 through 2015? These are my picks
