Apple Unveils A Credit Card. Here's What Investors Need To Know - Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) | Seeking Alpha
it would take a long time for Apple to roll out such services, and the introduction of the Apple Card might well be the first step in becoming a financial services giant. In this light, I look at Apple Card more like a smaller step in a long journey rather than a product that will become a sensation and take the company to the next level.

The Evolving Brexit Mess And What Needs To Be Done | Seeking Alpha
Then when the “leavers” won the election, no one had a plan.

No one, really, has created a “plan” of any substance since the election. There is no real “leader” of Brexit… and, there are no real “leaders” taking up the other position.

Composing Software: The Book – JavaScript Scene – Medium
You can’t get away from composing software — that’s how software comes together. But if you don’t do it conscientiously, you’ll do it badly, which leads to a lot of wasted time, wasted money, bugs, and even critical human safety issues. I wrote this series — and book — to change that.

PostgreSQL Upgrade Using pg_dumpall - Percona Database Performance Blog
pg_dumpall can be used to obtain a text-format dump of the whole database cluster, and which includes all databases in the cluster. This is the only method that can be used to backup globals such as users and roles in PostgreSQL.

There are, of course, advantages and disadvantages in employing this approach to upgrading PostgreSQL by rebuilding the database cluster using pg_dumpall.

When "Zoë" !== "Zoë". Or why you need to normalize Unicode strings | With Blue Ink
In fact, while the two strings above look identical on screen, the way they’re represented on disk, the bytes saved in the file, are different. In the first “Zoë”, the ë character (e with umlaut) was represented a single Unicode code point, while in the second case it was in the decomposed form. If you’re dealing with Unicode strings in your application, you need to take into account that characters could be represented in multiple ways.

The Current State of Open Source Backup Management for PostgreSQL | Severalnines
This blog is focusing on the state of the various tools and solutions available and an effort on presenting a thorough comparison based on real life experiences. This article in no way tries to promote any specific product, I really like all the tools, solutions and technologies described in this blog. The aim here is to note down their strengths, their weaknesses and to guide the end user as to which tool would best fit his/her environment, infrastructure and specific requirements. Here is a nice article describing backup tools for PostgreSQL at various levels.

Massive.js by dmfay
Massive.js is a data mapper for Node.js that goes all in on PostgreSQL and fully embraces the power and flexibility of the SQL language and relational metaphors. Providing minimal abstractions for the interfaces and tools you already use, its goal is to do just enough to make working with your data as easy and intuitive as possible, then get out of your way.

The best Postgres feature you're not using – CTEs aka WITH clauses - Craig Kerstiens
The feature itself is known as CTEs or common table expressions, you may also here it referred to as WITH clauses. The general idea is that it allows you to create something somewhat equivilant to a view that only exists during that transaction. You can create multiple of these which then allow for clear building blocks and make it simple to follow what you’re doing.

How to put a Linux ISO onto a USB stick and make it bootable on a Mac — The Ultimate Linux Newbie Guide
So, just to be clear, you have downloaded Linux (say Ubuntu) from the Ubuntu website. When you downloaded it you get a .iso file. This .iso file is a disk image. In the past, we’d ‘burn’ this image onto a blank CD or DVD. They weren’t really intended to be put onto USB sticks. USB sticks were more meant to pop regular files onto, not disk images.

Multi-Colored SVG Symbol Icons with CSS Variables | frontstuff
Icon fonts aren’t perfect though, which is why a growing number of people prefer using inline SVG images. CSS Tricks wrote a list of areas where icon fonts fall short compared to native SVG elements: sharpness, positioning, or even failures because of cross-domain loading, browser-specific bugs, and ad-blockers. Now you can circumvent most of these issues, and usually, icon fonts are a safe choice.

iMac as a Linux Workstation | Unixmen
Having heard horror stories about hardware incompatibilities I was somewhat wary, but without need. Believe it or not, everything worked out of the box – network, camera and sound all came up without any work on my part. I did use ethernet initially, but a quick install of the proprietary Broadcom drivers had wifi up as well. Also, in spite of what you read, no need for reFit, Bootcamp or other magic stuff, just standard Grub as per the normal Ubuntu install. I had no intention of sharing with OS X or Windows – Linux only for me!

Dao Is Open
I created this web site in 2004 after accomplishing the daunting task of translating Laozi's Dao De Jing (Tao Te Ching) from Chinese to English. I worked for many years with the Chinese characters used in Laozi's book, and came up with what I believe would be inspirational messages he intended.

Following that, I also translated The Zhuangzi (Chuang Tzu) from Chinese into English, which is another book written by one of the greatest Chinese philosophers.
