Beginner's Guide to SEO: Best Practices – Part 1/3 - Hongkiat
Everyone would like their pages to rank #1, which begs the question rank for what? Not all keywords and keyword phrases are equal. Some are typed into a search engine more often and some are more likely to lead to a sale. You don’t need or want to optimize for every possible keyword or phrase.

The New Giving In The Third Sector: How To Drive Passion, People and Purpose With Digital Create digital- rst, customer-centric strategies that engage and grow supporter relationships.
Charities and Not-for-Pro t Organisations (NFPs) need to respond to the ‘customer experience’ revolution that’s occurring around them.
Changing supporter behaviour, wider business trends, and the power
that integrated new technologies
can deliver, mean that the adoption of ‘digital- rst, supporter-centric’ strategies is critical if Charities and NFPs are going to be able to continue their critical work.
This is about more than just investing in gadgets, it’s about redesigning the way they work to develop long-term relationships with supporters, increase income and deliver e ciencies.

Alphabet of Illiteracy - The Inspiration Room
“Alphabet of Illiteracy”, an interactive feature developed for Pearson’s “Project Literacy” global campaign, has been awarded the Grand Prix for Health and Awareness at the Cannes Lions Health awards. 26 original sculptures by Wilfrid Wood were turned into 3D CGI models to be used in an animated film and linked with a re-write of the 1948 hit “A You’re Adorable”. The A to Z collection highlights the plight faced by people struggling to break out of illiteracy. The film was seeded in the UK across digital platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Unruly and Virool, targeting the millennial audience, with a focus on those who have a particular interest in social issues and those who are highly active and influential in social media. A complementary social media strategy tells the story of each letter and highlights Project Literacy partners’ work, as well as experiences of those affected by illiteracy. This will launch across Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and Tumblr. Each letter has a dedicated Instagram account featuring content on each topic, allowing users to discover each letter of the ‘Alphabet of Illiteracy’ natively on the platform. Outreach will engage key social influencers that include people close to literacy and sustainable development and a number of high profile partners, who will add their voice to the campaign.

Welcome to the future of advertising, where digital is redundant | Media Network | The Guardian
In this world what will matter isn’t the pipe but the context, the act of searching on a laptop, the consumption of the TV, the need to find a hotel in the car. We will become far more interested about this mindstate than how the message got there. Each device will invent new advertising opportunities: the ability to buy against GPS directions, the ability to place mobile coupons, the media buying of map placements, the chance to pass a message after a near field communication (NFC) payment or when it’s about to rain. Ads will also increasingly run more seamlessly across different devices, the data collected from our mobile to aid the automated placement of video ads on the TV, a move to flow advertising where ads work around people not devices.

Tweet this: Social media important to company performance but difficult to prove. | The CMO Survey
New results from The CMO Survey point to this disconnect. Social media spending is currently 9.4% of marketing budgets and is expected to increase 128% to 21.4% in the next five years (see Figure 1). However, the 351 marketing leaders responding to August 2014 survey overwhelmingly report that proof lags spending and only 15% of marketers report their companies can show the impact of social media using quantitative approaches.

What’s the buzz? Companies experienced a 25% percent increase in sales through the Internet in the last year—from 8.9% to 11.3% of sales. There does appear to be a sizable opportunity in reaching customers through the Internet that underlies this spending push. Consistent with this view, digital marketing, more broadly, is expected to increase 10.8% in the next year, while traditional advertising budgets are predicted to decrease 3.6%. In other words, there is a signal in all this buzz.

How the Internet Saved Handmade Goods - Larry Downes, and Paul Nunes - Harvard Business Review
Nostalgic goods. Artisanal goods. Disrupted technology goods. Each of these are businesses whose customers are devoted, but few and far between. What the internet of things means for marketers in the UK and beyond
For marketers, the internet's next phase could be even more vital than the web's inception, writes David Benady. The prospect of a world where everyday objects – the clothes we wear and even our pets – have sensors embedded in them, so they can communicate with each other, has unleashed an avalanche of amazing innovations. Making sense of this "internet of things" presents a serious challenge for marketers, whose task will be to ensure new developments offer real, life-improving benefits to the public.
