Daily Sketches in 2016 – Medium
Zach Lieberman on sketching. Really good - somewhat inspiring to see somebody so fluent in visually thinking in a single platform, but also good to see what Just Chipping Away looks like.

Bing Destination Map: Automatic Napkin Sketching of Maps - information aesthetics
"...Bing Destination Maps [] seems quite interesting as a new way of rendering geographical maps in a more visually simplified, understandable and accessible way. In other words, imagine one can now create a sort of information-optimized summary maps, similar to those you would quickly draw yourself on the back of napkin." It is slow and a bit beta, and the loading graphic is crackers... but otherwise, this is superb.

adaptive path » blog » Peter Merholz » Pen(cil) and paper to live prototype - where’d the wireframe go?
"I think the role of the architecture diagram, user flow, and wireframe belongs very much after the fact, after we’ve sketched and prototyped an experience. Those are tools to document what has been agreed through sketching and prototyping. They are not the best means for solving challenging design problems." That seems like a good way of putting it.

"Sketching is not only practical but essential. It is the quickest, most accessible way to find out if a space, a vista, a progression can work and also to communicate it to others."
