The Most Completely Insane Thing I’ve Ever Seen In a Cinema. — Medium
"The exec I was talking to sighed, leaned forward, and explained to me that according BBC Scotland that “Scottish people” are more working class and less educated than English people and, therefore, would feel intimidated and patronised if they watched a sitcom that mentioned philosophers, whereas English people can cope with more “cerebral” comedy without feeling as though they’re being made to feel stupid. So if I was going to pitch a script to BBC Scotland then I would have to make sure it was Glasgow, preferably male, centric and with no references to anything that could be construed as “intellectual” or cultured otherwise it would get immediately discarded." This makes a disturbing amount of sense.

Born Honest Born Clever « Bella Caledonia
"Scotland is not the part of the UK that has suffered most from London rule. Perhaps we should act to redress that issue. Perhaps we should pay a proportion of our annual ‘direct debit’ payment not to the Treasury but to local authorities in the North of England, Wales, Ireland, Cornwall, the Midlands…" I like the way Robin McAlpine thinks.

@caitlinmoran says "Lord Sugar vs Donald Trump on Twitter is like a 50ft high Mr Burns and a 50ft high Del Boy fighting in the middle of Tokyo #rivetted" and I am forced to agree. This is an epic bitchfight that deserves immortalization. "Without my show you'd be nothing!" declaims Trump to Sugar, presumably while steepling his fingers and stroking his goatee (unhealthily yellow and unnaturally-shaped, no doubt). I owned an Amstrad CPC twenty years before reality television existed.

Donald Trump's Scottish love affair on the rocks after whisky award slight
Because they gave a "Top Scot" award to someone he doesn't like. FEAR THE WRATH OF TEH DONALD. For reference, Wm Grant & Sons make some lovely drinks and they deserve your support. Grants brands you should support with your money include: Glenfiddich and Macallan (both rather meh), Highland Park (okay), Balvenie (the Double Wood is superb), Innis & Gunn whisky-aged beer, Black Bottle (good-quality blended whisky with a high proportion of malts and Islays), Hendricks gin (not my thing, but if you don't mind cucumber it's outstanding), and Sailor Jerry. None of these drinks are now available in Trump Brand Hotels, which is another reason not to go there.
