Happy birthday rock music, born 17th May 1966. "The most famous heckle in history" was, naturally, a Mancunian law student who disapproved of change. No, that's not quite fair. Poor acoustic mapping MATTERS, people!

Why Beethoven rules supreme over Mozart | Torygraph
"Beethoven is simply on a different plane, when it comes to grandeur and the sublime." And "[c]ompared to Mozart and Haydn, his music is quite simply noisier"---I have been saying this for years. You can go on as much as you like about diminished fifths, but ultimately it is just that simple. Beethoven rocks your socks right off.

5th Anniversary Videos | Frisky and Mannish
The Kickstarter worked, so now these videos are available to the world. Even if you've not spent real money on every single Frisky & Mannish live performance available, like what I have, these hi-def recordings are now available for you to enjoy IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR OWN HOME (although, for various reasons Festival-related and not, I still highly recommend getting drunk either first or during). F&M aren't doing any shows for the next while, so this is all you get. Enjoy.

Lady Gaga: ARTPOP review | viagroar
I do think that Gaga has become more pretentious and less listenable as time goes on, which is a shame. Nonetheless I'd still be getting this if it weren't for the contribution from R Kelly---who on earth think's he's still relevant any more?

Referencing Ballet Mechanique and Musique Concrete, of which I've never really been a big fan, with one notable exception (Delia Derbyshire rocks your socks right off). Answer: probably. MC Xander
Ran into @mcxandermusic performing on the Mile. Yes he's a beatboxer. He's also some sort of bloody genius. He generates entire tracks in real-time using nothing but samples of his own voice, as videos demonstrate on the site. He also finished off his set by shouting "Peace, Love, Understanding and Respect", which I've not heard anyone say in far too long. I approve.

Shostakovich to Plan B: How to defend a great city with violins
A couple of points of order: first, somebody spectacularly missed the point of the Leningrad Symphony. Fortunately for us all, so did Stalin until it was too late. Second, not the best recording, but don't let that bother you. Third, I've never heard of Plan B or Ill Manors---apologies, iLL Manors---but I'm glad to hear that today's yoof are pillaging from the very best sources. Although I'd much prefer it if he'd ripped off the first movement instead. Fourth: at least it's better than "I'll C U When U Get There". Fifth: when I google for Plan B it knows I mean the musician and not the oral contraceptive, SERIOUSLY GOOGLE HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT
