The Network Singularity: Organization Networks
Rather unbelievable how limited network comprehension is and how slow people gain a network mindset. it is a real problem. Changing the org chart, moving the nodes and connections, in an effort to improve performance, is primitive org/social network analysis (SNA). People are often dismissive of the org chart. However, organizational hub and spoke network configurations are critical for continuity, resource allocation, governance and so forth. Org charts are often the formal networks of the organization.

The essence of social business patterns
Business patterns of repeatable behaviour and consistent use of methodology or tools Technical patterns of business enablement through provision of platforms Integration patterns that exploit rampant connectivity, API and SDK model Agile patterns that embrace iteration and enable constant innovation Customer experience and UX patterns that redefine business models purely from the perspective of the customer/user Ecosystem patterns that both map and enable the complex systems of business without borders

Design Patterns - Fluid Project Wiki
Design patterns serve as tools to communicate ideas, solutions, and knowledge about commonly recurring design problems. User interface design patterns help designers and developers create the most effective and usable interface for a particular situation.

Patterns can be expressed hierarchically, with each level representing a different level of granularity, and there may be many different ways to (physically) implement each pattern.

"Graceful Hacks" - UX, IA and interaction design tips for hack days - currybetdotnet - 4 August, 2009
Putting a working hack together in just 24 hours is hard graft. When you are trying to get your pythons to catch the rubies that have been left on some train tracks, or whatever it is you developers do, user experience may not be your primary concern.

Especially when there is also usually the distraction of beer, pizza and Rock Band.

informal coalitions: Managers are part of the culture too!
To treat anything in a “taken-for-granted” way can, at worst, be terminal and, at best, stifle creativity and innovation. This is not a matter of trying to ‘do away with’ these assumptions or to ‘design them out’ in some way. They are a natural dynamic of organization - formed, reinforced and potentially changed through the ongoing conversational process of shared sense making. But it is important for managers to raise their awareness of the patterning process. And to take responsibility for their own contribution to the patterns that emerge, as role models (good or bad!) and 'organizational symbols'.
