Antonio Gramsci - Ein Klassiker

30 books everyone in software business should read (and why) – Micro-ISV Insights at Dextronet.com
There are both new and old books in this list. For the naysayers: Don’t forget how easy it is to succumb to hype and to phrases like “anything older than 3 months is irrelevant”, “it’s the age of the app”, “desktop is dead”, and so on. That’s simply not true. Reading these books can be very beneficial for you and for your business. The concepts are still valid, the ideas can be still utilized. Even if the world has fatalistically moved on (and it hasn’t), you can’t catch it up without a strong foundation. Many things are cyclical or ageless. You can re-combine ideas, find patterns, get inspired and most importantly, learn new things. These books are a nourishment for your mind. And hey, it can’t hurt to read something different than you are used to read!

The idea of an "organised" counter-culture is inherently ironic, since the harder a large group try to not conform, the more they end up conforming.

The Future of the Book
(Vimeo Direktbooks, via Core77)

Time will tell.

Nelson reinforces books as critical thinking tools, providing multiple perspectives, references, and current conversations on a single subject. The layers of information beyond the book itself provide greater context and encourages a deeper dive into the book throughout history and into the future.

Coupland addresses the challenge to stay on top of the thinking and writing in our world and professional field that so many of us feel. Readers can easily keep up with “must-reads” by following what colleagues are reading and interact with them through “book clubs” and other social layers (discussions, suggestions, lists, purchases) to help each other share and learn.

Alice explores new ways for users to interact and affect written narratives by introducing non-linear and game mechanics to reading. By introducing the reader’s active participation, this concept “blurs the lines between reality and fiction.” Certain interactions allow the reader to transcend traditional media by utilizing geographic location, communication with characters, and user contribution to storyline and plot.

FTA - The GNU/Linux Operating System | FTA - Free Technology Academy
The GNU/Linux systems have reached an important level of maturity, allowing to integrate them in almost any kind of work environment, from a desktop PC to the sever facilities of a big company.

In the module called "The GNU/Linux operating system", the main contents are related with system administration. This book is the main documentation for the module.

We will learn how to install and configure several computer services, and how to optimise and synchronise the resources.

The activities that will take place in this module cover the studied topics in a practical approach, applying these concepts in real GNU/Linux systems.

favorite org theory books of the last twenty years « orgtheory.net
One unfortunate consequence of the b-school-ization of organizational theory is that we seem to have fewer books on the topic than we used to. The classic books in org. theory haven’t changed much over the years, although perhaps fewer students read them than was true 20 or 30 years ago. Selznick, Gouldner, and March and Simon still deserve reading today. But what about recent history? What’s been written in the last couple of decades that will stand the test of time? Here are a few of my favorite org. theory books written in that time period.
