Socrates in the City | "The unexamined life is not worth living"
The Greek philosopher Socrates famously said that "the unexamined life is not worth living." Taking this as a starting point, Eric Metaxas thought it would be valuable to create a forum that might encourage busy and successful professionals in thinking about the bigger questions in life. Thus Socrates In The City: Conversations on the Examined Life was born.
Every month or so Socrates In The City sponsors an event in which people can begin a dialogue on "Life, God, and other small topics" by hearing a notable thinker and writer such as Dr. Francis Collins, Sir John Polkinghorne, Rabbi Sir Jonathan Sacks, N.T. Wright, Os Guinness, Peter Kreeft, or George Weigel. Topics have included "Making Sense Out of Suffering," "The Concept of Evil after 9-11," and "Can a Scientist Pray?" No question is too big—in fact, the bigger the better. These events are meant to be both thought-provoking and entertaining, because nowhere is it written that finding answers to life's biggest questions shouldn't be exciting and even, perhaps, fun.

The Pluralism Project at Harvard University
Over the past five decades, immigration has dramatically changed the religious landscape of the United States. Today, the encounter of people of different religious traditions takes place in our own cities and neighborhoods. In 1991, the Pluralism Project at Harvard University began a pioneering study of America's changing religious landscape. Through an expanding network of affiliates, we document the contours of our multi-religious society, explore new forms of interfaith engagement, study the impact of religious diversity in civic life, and contextualize these findings within a global framework.
*****
Our mission is to help Americans engage with the realities of religious diversity through research, outreach, and the active dissemination of resources

owen strachan | gospel calculus, with some whiz-bang
I am Assistant Professor of Christian Theology and Church History at Boyce College in Louisville, Kentucky. At Boyce, I have the privilege of teaching the full range of both systematic theology and church history. I also teach for The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (for example, an elective course on Fundamentalism & Evangelicalism in summer 2012).
I’m a contributing writer for The Gospel Coalition, a blog columnist for Credo magazine, a contributor to Project TGM, and a fellow of the Society for the Advancement of Ecclesial Theology. From 2008-10, I was the full-time Managing Director of the Carl F. H. Henry Center for Theological Understanding at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and Associate Director of the Jonathan Edwards Center at TEDS.
I earned a PhD in Theological Studies (Historical Theology) under Douglas Sweeney at TEDS from 2008-11, writing on Billy Graham, Harold Ockenga, and the mid-twentieth century re-enchantment of the evangelical mind. From 2005-07, I was the Editorial Assistant to Southern Seminary President Al Mohler, working for him as I completed an MDiv in Biblical & Theological Studies. Before that, I worked on the federal political level, serving the Bush White House in the U. S. Department of State. I have also worked on the state level for the Commissioner of the Maine Department of Labor.
I interned at Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington, DC and wrote for 9Marks. I graduated from Bowdoin College with an AB in History in 2003 and am from the coast of Maine. A member of Kenwood Baptist Church, I am married to the lovely Bethany and am the father of two sweet little kids. A hip hop aficionado and player of pickup basketball, I’ve cut a rap cd (no, seriously).
Because words matter, I have published six books and have written for publications like The Atlantic, First Things, Christianity Today, and the Scottish Bulletin of Evangelical Theology.

Centrihall |

Biblical Theology | A forum for all matters pertaining to biblical theology (and some entirely unrelated) | Matthew S. Harmon
I am a sinner saved by God’s grace in 1987. My wife Kate and I have been blessed with two sons (Jonathan and Jacob), who are a source of great joy to us. In addition to our involvement in our local church, as a family we enjoy sports of various kinds, especially basketball and football.
My passion is to help people to see the beauty of Jesus Christ as revealed in the Scriptures, because I am convinced that is what brings transformation (2 Cor 3:18). As a result, the focus of my ministry is the teaching and preaching of God’s Words in various contexts. Since 2006 I have served as Professor of New Testament Studies at Grace College and Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. I am a member of Christ’s Covenant Church, where I serve on the Preaching Team, lead a small group, and teach regularly in our Life Education classes.

Shored Fragments | Steve Holmes
A blog by Steve Holmes, a Baptist minister, presently employed to teach theology in St Mary’s College, St Andrews, Scotland.
This blog is an exploration of theology and culture from an Evangelical perspective. Part of this, of course, is a focus on what each of these words mean, with the contests over ‘evangelical’ being – at present – more prominent in my mind than the others.

Alastair's Adversaria | flotsam, jetsam, messages in bottles
Welcome to Alastair’s Adversaria. I previously blogged at alastair.adversaria (http://alastair.adversaria.co.uk/) and 40 Bicycles (http://40bikes.wordpress.com/). This blog will provide a home for my occasional and various thoughts, links, and notes on my reading. While you may struggle to find a unifying theme here, my thoughts will frequently return to the subjects of biblical theology, the sacraments, and Christian ethics.
My name is Alastair Roberts. I am a student in Durham, in the north of England: the 30+ photos in the header are all taken within a half hour’s walk of where I live. In addition to the subjects mentioned above, I am passionate about word games, English cricket, cathedral cities, long walks, and second hand bookstores.

FEBC Canada |

Center for Faith & Work - Redeemer Presbyterian Church
Redeemer's Center for Faith & Work (CFW) is the cultural renewal arm of the Redeemer movement, founded to equip, connect, and mobilize our church community in their professional and industry spheres toward gospel-centered transformation for the common good.
Through our work, we respond to God's mandate to continue in his creation. Through our work we serve God as we serve those he places in our lives. Our work provides a crucible where we more fully recognize our own limitations at the same time that we experience God's majesty and grace.
The Center for Faith & Work's ministry goals are three-fold:
* Equip individuals to fully apply the gospel to their lives and develop a Christian worldview of their profession or industry.
* Connect professionals within a field in ways that inspire and challenge gospel-centered thinking and behavior.
* Mobilize our leaders to become agents of change for the common good inside existing institutions and by creating new ones.

Jonathan Cliff // Family Ministry that Matters
My name is Jonathan Cliff and I am the Director of Family Ministries at Athens Church in Athens, GA. I have the privilege to lead the people of Athens, Georgia into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ by providing leadership for all of the Family Ministry environments at Athens Church.
I am a huge advocate for the family and believes that the family is God’s primary way of reaching the world. It is my prayer as a leader and as a father that kids and students learn to see the world as their mission field, and begin to use the gifts they’ve been given to make an impact on everyone around them.
I am the always faithful husband of Starr and the father of two sons (Ryan and Dylan) and one daughter (Lauryn.) We often foster kids in our home, so sometimes you’ll see me with even more.
This blog is a collection of family, church, culture, and technology musing from someone who isn’t really important enough for his thoughts to matter. These thoughts are my own, and in no way do they represent the church I work for, or the people I serve with.

“All things biblical” from the Hebrew Bible to Early Christianity in the Roman World and Beyond
*****
Welcome to my blog. I stepped into the newly emerging field of “biblioblogging” in April, 2006 with the publication of my book, The Jesus Dynasty. The blog at that time was called, accordingly, “The Jesus Dynasty.” My original focus was on the “historical Jesus” and issues related thereto. In order to accommodate a wider range of postings on “all things biblical,” I decided it would be best to inaugurate this new one, simply called “TaborBlog,” January 1, 2009. Many of the relevant posts from “The Jesus Dynasty” blog were migrated over to this one when I made the change, especially those covering the subject of the Talpiot Jesus family tomb, giving it a rich and deep archive reaching back to 2006.

These are but a sampling of responses to Len’s three-ring mission: as a historian of American culture; as a futurist/semiotician who "sees things the rest of us do not see, and dreams possibilities that are beyond most of our imagining;" and as a preacher and writer who communicates the gospel powerfully to a postmodem age by bridging the worlds of academe and popular culture. In 2006 and 2007, Len was voted by his peers “One of the 50 Most Influential Christians in America” by ChurchReport Magazine.

Blackaby Ministries International
Blackaby Ministries International was established to respond to increasing opportunities for the Blackaby family to share the unique ministry and message God has given them globally.
There are three key areas of ministry to Blackaby Ministries International:
* Experiencing God: Helping people to experience God
* Revival: Helping people and churches return to God
* Spiritual Leadership: Helping church, business and family leaders move people on to God’s agenda
The heart-cry of the Blackaby family is to help people to experience God. They do this through their extensive writing, speaking and teaching ministry. Everywhere they share their unique message, drawing on timeless truths, God is drawing people to Himself and setting them free. We pray the Lord will continue to use our ministry to revive His people and to equip spiritual leaders to impact their world for Christ.

http://www.globalbible.org/introduction.htm。

Covenant Worldwide's mission is to provide ready access to grace-centered, high-quality theological training by minimizing the barriers of distance, cost, and language. This mission recognizes our part in stewarding the resources of theological education to the Church, which is growing most rapidly in areas of the world where ministry training is often least available.
[Church Leadership: We believe that, as the national seminary of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), it is our responsibility to provide intellectual training and ministry models that are true to the Westminster Standards and the historic distinctives of Presbyterian orthodoxy, while equipping the next generation of Christian servants for effective church leadership in a changing world. At the same time, because we recognize that a seminary alone can never fully equip students for these tasks, we seek to work in partnership with local churches to accomplish our purpose.]

Grace Christian Church (PCA)

*****
David Pawson was born in 1930. His father was a Methodist minister and his grandfather, a Professor of Agriculture. David, however, began his career with a degree in Agriculture at Durham University, England. With a newly acquired farm in Scotland, David was surprised when God intervened and led him to become a Christian minister.
After completing an MA in Theology at Cambridge University, David became a chaplain in the Royal Air Force for three years. David moved on to pastor a number of churches in England including the Millmead Centre in Guildford where under David’s caring leadership, the church became a model for many UK church pastors. His time at Millmead was also his most fruitful in terms of the library of his audio teachings. In 1979 David was released from the Millmead Centre to fulfill a wider international ministry.
David now has an itinerant ministry predominantly to church leadersworld wide. Millions of copies of his audio Bible teachings have been distributed to over 120 countries. He is a writer and speaker of urgency, clarity, and uncompromising faithfulness to the Scriptures. He is widely considered to be one of the world’s finest biblical expositors.
David & his wife Enid currently reside in the county of Hampshire in the UK.

Preaching Christ in a Postmodern World - Download free content from Reformed Theological Seminary on iTunes
Originally taught as a Doctor of Ministry course, Dr. Keller and Dr. Clowney (1917-2005) ask, “Is Jesus made visible in every sermon or only talked about?” By analyzing and deconstructing other models of preaching that either exhort on moral levels or attempt to evoke an emotional response, Dr.’s Keller and Clowney provide a model of preaching that is Christocentric. This model of preaching focuses on three aspects to guide the listener and preacher: First, how does this text tell me about Christ? Second, how does this text show that the listener’s life is poor without Christ. Third, how to lead the listener to worship and adore Christ. NOTE: We are not able to provide the notes that Drs. Keller and Clowney mention throughout the course at this time.
