There were days when the realization that he was someone’s father made Steve's head hurt. Mostly he was grateful that he could trust his instincts, because Peter was what had been missing from his life. Yes, he still had lingering, unresolved issues from his time in the Army, and sure, he had what Bucky annoyingly referred to as a criminally untapped ass and no life outside of work and Peter, but Steve was okay with how his life had turned out because of trusting his instincts.

Unfortunately, those same instincts had straight up betrayed him by going absolutely haywire upon being exposed to Tony Stark.

Bucky started a YouTube channel to give himself something to do after he lost his arm in combat, and quickly became popular. Bucky is invited to a charity event, where he runs into a gorgeous man named Tony. Little does he know Tony is none other than Tony Stark, the richest man in the world.

They manage to keep their relationship private from fans and media for a whole year before Tony blows it by interrupting Bucky in the middle of a live broadcast. Yeah, Bucky warned him, but… Tony missed that part.

Bucky Barnes is recovering from his war injury quite nicely, thanks, when his best friends Steve and Peggy pass in a tragic accident, leaving behind their only daughter, Jamie. Bucky is thrown into the new challenge of trying to raise his goddaughter as she mourns her parents and he, his friends. It's a rough road to recovery for them both, until Jamie's science teacher, Mr. Stark, steps in, with a little more to teach them than just facts about the stars.

When Tony fell through the sky, did he fall through time as well? Why does Steve act so cold towards him? Were he and Bucky really that happy together?

Did it all really happen, or is Tony in love with a life he can only have in his dreams?

“Shh, shh, it’s okay, you’re safe,” he said. He had a deep, smooth voice like a breeze blowing through grass. Steve looked up as he paused. The man was big, taller than Steve was with a wide, gentle smile against a square jaw covered in a blond beard. “My name is Thor Odinson, captain of the NYPD. You’re safe, now."

Steve stared up into Thor’s face while the words registered. Safe. NYPD. Captain. Thor. The adrenaline that was coursing through his veins dissipated as relief flooded his body.

“Oh, thank God,” he sobbed. He crumpled to the floor. Thor caught him before he could fall the whole way. Steve sobbed with relief into Thor’s shoulder. “Thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

“It’s okay,” Thor murmured. “We’ll take care of you. They won’t hurt you again.”

When Pepper leaves Tony, he reverts to his old habits. He's not expecting much when he picks up Hari, but is pleasantly surprised when their hook-up turns into something more.

Tony Stark is a complicated guy with secrets. Despite riches and fame, he has few true friends and little life outside of Iron Man. Which is what everyone seems to want, except Pepper. Pepper hates Iron Man, but he can't change what he is.
Harry Potter has no idea what life after death holds, but he can't go back, can't undo what has been done. A new life, new people, and a new world. The only direction is forward, for both of them.

Tony recognizes Bucky is a little touch starved and decides to lend a helping hand.

Months after the Avengers' dispute in Germany, the team returns to the US and moves back into the tower. As always, everyone pretends that nothing happened. Tony is just fine with this. He's used to pretending, and he'll be damned if he lets any of them see him flinch.

Tony's the bad guy, after all. He's used to it. He's fine with it. He's good at it.

Only now, there's something far worse loitering around the tower - The Winter Soldier. No one notices the guy at first, but when they do, Tony figures that he should have the soldier's back.

Birds of a feather should flock together, and the bad guys should start a book club.

“Finish it,” Tony tells him, face bruised, chest broken, and heart just … gone.

It has been ripped out by the roots again, like it had been once before not so long ago, on a couch in Malibu, with a familiar buzzing in Tony’s ears and betrayal high and sick in his throat.

And Tony doesn’t want to feel like this again, didn’t want any of the things that led to this.

Hadn’t wanted them right from the start.

All Tony had wanted was to keep their family safe.

Just like all he really wants Steve to do right now is stop.

Bucky Barnes is unwillingly dragged along when Nick Fury goes to talk to Tony Stark about the Avenger Initiative, as a little demonstration of the bigger universe Tony's just joined.

Tony dies in Siberia under the hands of Captain America, but fate doesn't leave it there. He opens his eyes several years earlier amidst the threat of Loki's invasion and the first assembling of the 'Avengers'. Tony may not understand why he got this second chance, but he's going to do better with it - and he's decided that he's going to share it. With a Winter Soldier who could really use a different hand than he was dealt.

Never let it be said that fate doesn't have a sense of humor.

“Hey Steve, this is Jack Murphy, our other neighbor. Jack, this is Steve.” Steve looked at Sam a little wildly, expecting to see—he didn’t even know, but some reaction other than Sam’s usual easy friendliness. And there was something there, but it was just the twitch of Sam’s mouth that said he found something hilarious and he was trying not to show it. Was this Sam’s idea of a joke, or a prank? Because this guy—behind the glasses and mustache, Steve could have sworn—well, he looked like Bucky.

Bucky is a mildly agoraphobic veteran with funds to spare, who becomes enamored with the cute blonde guy in his building.

So when Steve mentions needing a roommate to cut down on rent costs, Bucky decides it would be a good idea to volunteer.

Bucky's working his way back up through the ranks at S.H.I.E.L.D. after a mission took his left arm and Stark gave him a new metal one.

So when Fury tasks him with integrating the newly defrosted Captain Rogers into the 21st century, he jumps at the promotion.

Bucky ripped open the packaging of his new phone, spent twenty incredibly frustrating minutes getting it activated, then plugged the stupid thing in to charge while he paced around his kitchen table. He looked at the clock, did some mental arithmetic, and decided there was no way he could wait until Steve was home. If he didn’t vent, he’d punch a hole in the fucking wall, or maybe even set the building on fire.

Hands shaking, he hurriedly dialed the number from memory, and slouched down against the wall the phone was plugged into. As soon as he heard the line pick up, he started talking.

The beginnings of a plan took shape in Steve’s mind, as clear and simple as a tactical frontal assault. He’d prove to Bucky that this was it, he was staying: Steve was retired from the fighting game, Steve wasn’t going to let anything keep pulling them apart. Maybe then when Steve finally told him he loved him, Bucky would believe him.

All things considered, Steve thought he’d handled the whole Thanos killing half the universe thing and the ensuing bitter, desperate quest to defeat him pretty well. Sacrificing his super soldier serum to use one of the Infinity Stones wasn't a problem either, not when it meant getting back the half of the universe they'd lost, and especially not when it meant getting Bucky back. But retirement and finally confessing his feelings for Bucky? Those were proving to be more challenging.

When the police uncover a hidden sub-basement in the home of criminal Alexander Pierce and find a tortured omega and his three pups, they bring them to the Stark Omega Clinic, a non-profit dedicated to rehabilitating traumatized omegas.

After dark in September 2005, fourteen year old Bucky Barnes vanished. Eleven years and three pups later, he is far from the boy that went missing from a suburban neighborhood outside of Denver.

Steve Rogers is an alpha of some means. When he came into money, he decided to use what he had for good and sign up as a candidate to be a support alpha for his close friend Tony's charitable clinic. When he takes on the task of helping reintegrate Bucky and his pups into the world, he doesn't expect to fall so hard.

It all starts because Steve is too dumb to handle his smartphone.

A wrong number AU in which Bucky Barnes doesn't enter Steve's life (meaning: Bucky wasn't born until the eighties, but Steve is still Captain America) until Steve accidentally dials the wrong number. Wherein there is a lot of texting, some advice via Natasha and Darcy, a bit of pining, and a first date in an amusement park. Oh, and on top of being a disabled veteran, Bucky is a professional catwalker. Literally.

James Buchanan Barnes lay in a glass pod in the middle of the table, frozen since he fell. Steve’s hands were on the glass before he realized he’d moved.
“Wait, Captain!”
“Get him out,” Steve whispered, his hands searching for a clasp, a keypad, something.
“Captain, we need to keep him in stasis—“
“I said get him out!”

"Why does it matter anyway? He’s obviously straight."

"Steve goes on a bisexual rant at least once a week," Sam says. "He is definitely not straight."

Okay, then he's not interested, Bucky wants to say but even he isn't blind enough to not have noticed the way Steve blatantly checked him out earlier.

“What's this Bucky like?” Sam asks. “He a good neighbor?”

“I guess,” Steve says with a shrug. “We talk occasionally, whenever we run into each other. I think he works from home, has a lot of late nights doing whatever he's doing. Sometimes he still hasn't slept by the time I go for a morning run with Alice.”

OR— Steve gets a dog and a new neighbor. Also, there's a cat.

“What do you want to do?”

Steve pauses and looks at them.

What he wants is to stay with them. He doesn't have any family left, they all died before he even joined the war and became... this. Captain America turned whatever he is now. But Natasha and Sam have become his family over the years. Not just because they're on the run together, fugitives and vigilantes, but way before that too.

He doesn't want to leave that.

But he knows that, realistically, he can't stay with them and they can't stay with him.

So he looks at them with a smile and lies. “I don't know.”

OR; In which Steve retires and finally finds a place to call home.

“Uh, hi? I’m here to volunteer at the Cat Loft?”

Bucky almost brains himself when he pushes the back door open and hurries to the reception area, tripping over the new box of dog treats he hasn’t had the time to put away yet.

“Hi,” Bucky breathes out, face flushing in embarrassment when Steve just blinks at him, confused.

In which Bucky has a house, a dog, an herb garden, and a serious case of insomnia. Welcome to Havensport, Indiana (population 8,294), where Tom’s Neighborhood Grocer stays open all night, little old ladies call the car shop to get their refrigerators repaired, and the heat of summer days and the length of summer nights can make you think that this perfect world will last forever.

Like many other war veterans, Bucky Barnes is alone. He doesn't talk to his family, he has no friends and his only human interactions are with his cleaning crew from Avengers Tower. Plagued by nightmares and pain, he lives each day in isolation. Until the Avengers bring their fight at home and Bucky gets to meet the famous Captain America. To his surprise, both their lives change forever after that.

Or: the janitor listening to music and ignoring the battle around him AU that no one asked for.

It was the summer after many members of the New Directions had graduated. Everyone managed to get together to see Rachel off to New York City the day after graduation. When Mercedes left, Sam's heart broke. He didn't know how to lose the girl he wanted to be with and his best friend at the same time. He was lost with no direction.

But he knew he wasn't the only one. Other members of New Directions also had similar problems.

Life has been going well in the Big Apple. Kurt and Blaine are still happily engaged. Rachel is a Broadway sensation. Everything is as it should be. Until the day that Sam gets a call saying that there was an incident at the base where Puck was stationed. That one phone call shakes up their idyllic lives and changes things forever. But who ever said that change was a bad thing?

The look of shock was hard to miss on every single person's face that was sitting at the table; he wasn't sure if the shock was from him suddenly showing up after 10 years in an Army uniform of all things, or if it was from his appearance.

He’s got a bullet hole in his shoulder the size of a quarter and more cuts and bruises scattered over his body than there are hours in a day that all attest to where he has been. And for the last eighteen months, he’s had a faded picture in place of a family to guide him back home again.

He laughs, and the sad thing is, Danny thinks this is probably what actually passes for amusement to Steve these days. This is probably the most genuine laugh he’s had since getting out of the hospital. It hurts to hear because it’s only so deep, doesn’t reach his eyes, doesn’t radiate that big old giant heart of Steve’s that Danny’s come to know and love. (set post 07x02)

Relationships are complicated. Falling in love with your best friend, who just happens to be of the same sex, is complicated. Entering into that relationship with that best friend while you are both technically in relationships with someone else is complicated. Add on the fact that your best friend has been drugged and is now suffering from flashbacks that only you seem to be able to bring him out of, and things really are complicated.

Yeah, relationships are complicated, then again what aspect of Danny Williams life isn't complicated.

It’s been a tough year for Five-O's premier unmarried married couple. Danny lost his brother in traumatic circumstances and Steve went one too many brutal rounds with Wo Fat.
