Forging The Blade by MacGeorge (R)
These are the stories of Duncan's tumultuous first years as an Immortal. Having been cruelly banished from his clan as a demon and living for years as an outcast, he eventually stumbles into a cave in Strathconnon Forest and encounters his first Immortal in an experience that will scar him forever. Ultimately, he is found by the legendary Connor MacLeod, from whom he learns who and what he is, and they form a bond of brotherhood that will sustain them both through the centuries.

And one time that has yet to occur. When a man bound to the slow path is the oldest of humankind, it's only natural he should run into a man who can travel anywhere, anywhen. A crossover of Highlander and Doctor Who, with a smidge of Torchwood and a dash of AU.

A Square Peg in a Round Hole by MarbleGlove (PG-13)
Jake O'Neil (clone of Jack O'Neill) thought he was doing a pretty good job of playing the role of a teenager, until a baffling conversation with his pre-calculus teacher showed him the error of his ways. A few weeks of Official Military Surveillance and one interrupted swordfight later, said teacher is permanently locked away in the bowels of Cheyanne Mountain. The question is, who *is* this guy, and how exactly does he keep coming up with 5,000 year old facts?

Brothers and Other Strangers by Valentin (NC-17)
After the Horsemen debacle, Methos drinks himself to death (literally) and then has a slight mental break. As in, he forgets he's Methos. Or a Watcher. Or, you know, immortal. All he is now is mild mannered Adam Pierson, a 35-year-old grad student who is prone to odd, buzzing headaches and who is occasionally approached by strange men with tattoes on their left wrist. Joe, of course, takes this information to Mac, who isn't impressed. At least not until he actually meets Adam Pierson and suddenly finds himself explaining immortality to the oldest immortal of all. Which, it must be said, is pretty damn awesome.

A Miracle Every Day by Aristide (NC-17)
The story as a whole is kind of hard to sum up, because you've got the beginning with the goofiness of Mac stumbling over Methos's gay porn and the subsequent drunken request for experimentation, and then you have the sex, and the angst, and the sex again, and the angst again, and -- well, you get the point. You'll want to smack both Duncan and Methos at times in this story, repeatedly, but at the same time you'll want to give them a hug, because man, do these guys have issues. And we love them for it.

Darkest Hour by Killa (NC-17)
Post-series, Joe calls Methos to let him know that Mac has been killed, and Methos does not take it well. As in, does not take it at all. Refusing to believe that MacLeod is dead without conclusive proof (and you'd think that proof would be the body, but it didn't come out of the Quickening well at *all*), Methos goes on a mission to prove that not only is Mac alive, but he's been kidnapped by forces unknown. Mysterious abductions, global conspiracies, and the lingering hints of cigarette smoke? We all know what *that* means, don't we.

Sacred Trust by Lanning Cook (R)
After MacLeod killed Byron...Methos retreated to The Only Bar In Paris to get very, very drunk. For several weeks. Who knows how long it might have gone on if a panicked Watcher hadn't shown up to announce that an infamous immortal ex-Watcher with a major axe to grind was in town (and, oh yeah, chopping every Watcher he came across into itty bitty bits). And, thanks to (EEEEEEEEEvil) Shapiro, this bad guy has now set his sights on Joe. And Methos. *And* Duncan, Ryan, and Amanda.

The Quality of Mercy Series by Tira Nog (NC-17)
Methos, having suffered unspeakable abuse as a child, turned into Death. Once he tried to leave the Horsemen, however, he suffered even *more* unspeakable abuse. Unsurprisingly enough, that trauma did a number on his mind, until a chance meeting with a very unusual immortal...caused such a huge personality shift that Methos turned from a soldier into an academic and a healer. But Death is always waiting in the wings...

Wolf at the Door by MacGeorge (NC-17)
In the series finale, Nick is given a slow-acting poison and Amanda kills him to trigger his immortality. He doesn't take it very well.

Wolf at the Door starts right after that episode and answers an interesting question: if Nick is too pissed at Amanda for her to be his teacher, who is going to take over the job? After Methos (dis)respectfully declines (and everyone's reaction to him even being in the running is hilarious), he manipulates Duncan into doing it. The only problem? Nick's finding Duncan awfully attractive, and Duncan's not nearly disinterested enough for Methos's peace of mind.
