Seven Cups - Fine Chinese Tea
Quality-oriented USA-based tea sourcing company with insightful blog with posts such as:

"Seven Cups is an American tea company based in Tucson, Arizona. We source traditional, handmade Chinese teas directly from the growers and tea masters who make them, and we bring those teas back from China to share with people everywhere.

We focus on direct sourcing because it gives us two important advantages. First, we get the teas we want because we select them ourselves. We travel to all of these places, 22 producers in ten different regions of China, from one side of China to the other. Second, we build relationships with our tea masters and growers, and see for ourselves how they make their teas. We gather this information and share it with our customers. Both of these pieces – real tea and the story behind it – are what our customers have come to expect.
We’re also dedicated to promoting Chinese tea culture. Seven Cups is a member of the Chinese International Tea Culture institute, and our founder Austin Hodge is the first American to be published in their journal."

AFN - Alternative Food Network
"Alternative Food Network (“AFN”) is a specialty multi-media resource at the intersection of food and personal best health. AFN’s mission is to foster a ‘can do’ approach to eating for health and wellness, including those with food limitations and sensitivities.

Why “alternative”? Sometimes people must substitute ingredients and create alternative dishes because of dietary needs. Everyone is unique. There is no one diet that is right for everyone.
If you’re looking for a meal that’s low in carbohydrates, we have a section for that. If you’re looking for a gluten-free alternative, we’ve got recipes for you.
AFN is media with a mission; a socially conscious venture with a goal of alleviating the fear and stress associated with food restrictions and helping people live a healthy and energetic life."

From Ontario / Canada.

"transversal is an anti-peer-review platform. We object to the increasing pressure to domesticate styles, forms and formats, to valorize and self-valorize through the usual mechanisms of inclusion and exclusion in the publication industries.

transversal explicitly supports copyleft practices. All contents, both original texts and translations, are subject to the copyright of their authors, but may be copied and reproduced by any means for any kind of non-commercial and non-institutional use and distribution, whether private or public.

transversal also explicitly supports the use of gender-inclusive language, both in original texts and translations. Exceptions are the responsibility of the individual authors. However, due to the respective structures of the different languages, but also due to different ways in which linguistic gender-sensitivity is developed by authors and translators, a variety of gender-inclusive language usages may appear."

MATTER | Change Beyond Textiles
"MATTER reinterprets textile heritage into prints that tell stories of where and why they are made. Our mission is threefold – to foster designer-artisan collaborations, inspire customers to value provenance and process, and pioneer industry change and sustainability for rural textile communities.

Founded in 2014, we began simply with the intention to make where and why something is made, and by whom, matter. [...] Grounded on purpose and impact, we always knew that we wanted this to go beyond creating products that reflect a culture’s heritage in its craft.

We create garments and accessories that accompany you through day and night, always with the ethos of comfort and versatility in mind. Working with a curative philosophy inspired by tradition, we source heritage prints and styles while reinterpreting them in a modern manner. Our mission is to impact change beyond textiles — to make rural artisan production sustainable, shift designers’ approach to their process, and inspire customers to value provenance."

Ghost (Ghost Foundation)
Compelling mission, "Sustainable Open Source" business model and solution ecosystem.

Aggregation of Wiki entry:
"Free and open source blogging platform written in Node.js (server-side JavaScript execution engine, based on Google's V8). MIT License. Designed to simplify the process of online publishing for individual bloggers as well as online publications.

Founder John O'Nolan was formerly deputy lead for the WordPress User Interface team, after becoming frustrated with the complexity of using WordPress as a blog rather than a CMS (content management system).

The first public version of Ghost, released October 2013, was financed by a successful Kickstarter campaign which achieved its initial funding goal of £25,000 in 11 hours and went on to raise a final total of £196,362 during the 29-day campaign.

Offers via DigitalOcean hosted version Ghost(Pro) with worldwide CDN’s, including China. Ghost(Pro) is what funds the Non-Profit Organisation which organises and runs the Ghost Open Source project. So, renting out plots of virtual land for Ghost blogs goes towards improving the Ghost software for the whole world. They call this Sustainable Open Source.

The interface is intended to be simple and editing is facilitated using a split screen display.

Offers to non-profits free or reduced rates for their hosted solution Ghost(Pro)."

WeChat marketing is not just about WeChat
Interview with WeChat (in Chinese: 微信 ) expert Thomas Graziani from WalkTheChat. Excerpt: "... challenging for companies to bring sustainable engagement through WeChat, as opposed to Facebook or Twitter, which have advertising on the timeline, making it a bit more organic. [...] The WeChat content is getting extremely competitive. A lot of accounts which have fake followers are copy-catting content. It’s getting more and more challenging for people to figure out what is original & true and what is fake. [...] Advertising on WeChat really sucks. It’s very difficult to get traction. For most of our clients we actually have to use what we call key opinion leaders. These are bloggers who blog about our clients on WeChat accounts. Bloggers with existing followers and good traction. But if you use the embedded system within WeChat, the subscription account system doesn’t have the highest quality in terms of followers and the WeChat moments system is quite pricey." HAG

We are taking back the term “Hacking” which has been soured in the public mind. Hacking is an art form that uses something in a way in which it was not originally intended. This highly creative activity can be highly technical, simply clever, or both. Hackers bask in the glory of building it instead of buying it, repairing it rather than trashing it, and raiding their junk bins for new projects every time they can steal a few moments away." HAG

Intro: "Fashion brands and their favorite bloggers have been playing with native advertising for years, often with unpredictable -- and frustrating -- results. Have we reached an impasse?" The article describes well how the brands and bloggers have gotten more experienced over time, from "Wild West" some years ago to more professional. One challenge for the bloggers is that their readers are increasingly flocking from their own domains to Instagram and Tumblr. Conclusion: - Brand values/looks must match with bloggers' - Brands should be assigning metrics to measure impact before launching the campaign, starting with setting goals internally - Brands can consider working with affiliate marketing platform to identify (optionally local) top bloggers who have an affinity for the brand - Approach: "Bloggers should be treated as publishers and behave like publishers if they want to make it. Brands need to inspire the blogger and vice versa." HAG

The Digital IQ of Prestige Brands in China
The measurement methodology of this “Digital IQ” is based on search engine optimization (SEO), social media performance, digital marketing efforts and most importantly their website's functionality, translation and content.
One way brands can enhance SEO is by creating more opportunities for consumer interaction through a combination of social network sites (SNS), microsites, bulletin-board systems (BBS) and e-commerce and mobile websites.
As consumers are increasingly expecting brand communications to be interactive, rather than one-way broadcasts, digitally savvy brands that are beginning to engage directly (e.g BMW hosts contests on RenRen) with users on SNS platforms stand to gain an edge.
It is imperative for luxury brands to develop a mobile strategy.
...Digital IQ has in China a stronger correlation with the brand value than elsewhere.
...Winning strategies are local relevance and availability across a broad range of media.
