Gambling states addicted to easy money: Our view
The lesson seems obvious: The farther gambling spreads, the less likely it is to produce the gusher of revenue that entices states to approve it in the first place. Ultimately, states with gambling will be primarily be extracting money from their own residents. At best, this is a wash for the local economy. While gamblers do spend money and create jobs, they would likely spend it in other ways that sustained other jobs if casinos were unavailable. What's more, gambling imparts hidden social costs that other industries do not.

Dogs (Not Chimps) Most Like Humans: Discovery News
Lead author Jozsef Topal explained to Discovery News "that shared environment has led to the emergence of functionally shared behavioral features in dogs and humans and, in some cases, functionally analogous underlying cognitive skills."

THE GOOD PART: ==> "In my view, pet dogs can be regarded in many respects as 'preverbal infants in canine's clothing,'" he said, adding that many dog-owner relationships mirror human parental bonds with children.

This explains the nigh obsessive fixation that lil' Pita has developed with me. He thinks he is my diminutive, hairy, floppy-eared, balls-sniffing, four-legged son...
