IDLES (Phil Gyford’s website)
No weeknotes yesterday because, having just got over ten days of coughing, my body decided to host a cold and I spent most of the day leaking from my nose. So I sat on the sofa feeling rubbish, consuming undemanding video content.

Last winter I didn’t have a single cold and so I assumed I was an invincible ironman thanks to a healthy diet, plenty of exercise and doing everything right. This year it’s just turned December and I’ve already had a cough and a cold, so it’s apparent that I’m a diseased jelly of a man who has done everything wrong, and so doesn’t deserve something as basic as health.

Anyway. I used to listen to a lot more loud/noisy/angry music than I do these days. I’m not sure if that change is due to getting older or because most of my music listening is now while at the computer typing. Or maybe it’s both — maybe I used to be able to do internet typing while listening to wordy punchy music, but now I’m older and slower and need to concentrate more and so don’t want the music to intrude too much on my brain’s struggles.

But last week, having heard IDLES on Rocker’s show, and seen Art Brut’s Eddie Argos say how much he likes them…

Idles fucking ripping it up. Nothing beats watching a band fucking smash it full force in such a perfect way. I instinctively got to my feet and applauded when this video finished. Now bring back Top Of The Pops so they can play on that too. https://www.youtube.com/watch…

…I ended up listening to Joy as an Act of Resistance a few times. Yes. The video Eddie links to is from Later… and is good, but the sight of a grinning Jools Holland tapping his feet at his grand piano detracts a little.

Here’s Mother from their previous album Brutalism (contains a rude word in case you’re about to play this loud in your office or something):

Righteous anger. Have a good week. Smash something.

Trial by Propaganda
I mentioned in a couple of comments yesterday that I don’t own a television. In fact, I haven’t had one since 2001. To begin with it’s hard, but if you stick with it you very soon come to see it as remarkably odd that you’ve spent a significant amount of your time sitting in front of a box, wondering if there’s anything on, and still watching it even if there isn’t, and letting other people drip their agenda and propaganda […] via Trial by Propaganda

“Curiouser and Curiouser!” Cried Alice as She Stared at the Door Handle
Regular readers will have noticed that most of my pieces on the Salisbury poisoning have been dedicated to showing the implausibility of the official narrative, rather than attempting to come up with my own theory of what took place. I am merely debunking a conspiracy theory, not attempting my own. There are two reasons for this. The first is that there are simply too many unknowns for me to have any confidence in any theory I could advance. Dear Syrpers, as Ziad and many other at the Syrper community have mentioned, the attack did take place last night in Damascus area, missiles launched by US/UK/France from few boats but mostly by jets that took off from Jordan, UAE and Cyrpus. The results so far:

– 97 cruise missiles launched, 90 were intercepted by the Syria air defenses (remember Israhell said they destroyed 50% of Syria’s air defenses 2 months ago ?, they must be pissing all over their beds right now). You herd that right 90 out of 97 were shot down and/or jammed.
– 3 civilians were killed by a jammed Uk missile.
– 1 Israhelli UAV was shot down, it was trying to check on the aftermath.
– The only hits (7 it seems) were:
Empty base west of Homs Province, near Qalamoun.
Two missiles were jammed away from targets and hit a residential area (3 fatalities above).
Direct hit on an ex-depot near Harsta suburb (was it the coordinates of the terrorists CW main depot ?).

Aftermath of this major fiasco:
1) Russia just announced plans to supply Syria with S300 and maybe S400 for their own air defense. Should they keep this going, it will be a MAJOR loss for Israhell.
2) UK regime launched a illegal attack without the approval from the upper house, a crime on British law.
3) The fiasco was so serious that many countries will think twice on either buying US/UK/French junk weapons (Syria used 1970’s to defend against almost 100 modern cruise missiles….).
4) The east of Syria is now a fair game for the Syrian Army and allies to strike for.
5) President, and now the newest and best global Bad Ass, went to work this morning (Bund broke this news), driving his car without security and walking like the hero he is.

All in one, the US/UK/France are now the newest global joke, the lost all credibility, expect Trump, May and Macaroni to few a pressure to resign bigger than their ego, they are toast.
The ME is now Russia’s for the taking.

idiocracy, just checked BBC (British intelligence) website (I don’t watch TV, stopped years back) and read this:

“Firstly, the Assad regime has effectively won its war ”

MD: The Brits (BBC) say this was to stop chemical attacks but accept that Assad has won and state no desire to overthrow him.

‘Stopping chemical attacks’ is really code for ‘we want our operatives back’.

“President Assad may not control all of Syrian territory. But backed by Russia and Iran, there is nobody that can really stand against him. It is shortages of manpower, equipment and capacity that prevent him re-establishing wider control.”

MD: Basically Russia and Iran have defeated the West, Assad can’t be overthrown.

“President Trump’s rhetoric suggested a major military strike against the Assad regime. In the event what has taken place falls far short of that.”

MD: Yes idiocracy you seem to be right, even the BBC (Brits) are admitting these strikes were pretty useless.

“The three targets hit were chosen both for their central role in the chemical weapons programme but also because the risk of collateral damage was smallest.”

MD: The Yanks toned it down and didn’t go for any major high value target, proving Idiocracy right.

The article is: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-43764344

The rest of the article is typical BBC B.S. unclear, convoluted and not saying anything susbtantive other than banal propaganda, but the basic message is:

“These strikes weren’t much, nothing much will change, Assad has won”.

The Rush to War - Craig Murray
I have never ruled out the possibility that Russia is responsible for the attack in Salisbury, amongst other possibilities. But I do rule out the possibility that Assad is dropping chemical weapons in Ghouta. In this extraordinary war, where Saudi-funded jihadist head choppers have Israeli air support and US and UK military “advisers”, every time the Syrian army is about to take complete control of a major jihadist enclave, at the last moment when victory is in their grasp, the Syrian Army allegedly attacks children with chemical weapons, for no military reason at all. We have been fed this narrative again and again and again.

We then face a propaganda onslaught from neo-con politicians, think tanks and “charities” urging a great rain of Western bombs and missiles, and are accused of callousness towards suffering children if we demur. This despite the certain knowledge that Western military interventions in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya have had consequences which remain to this day utterly disastrous.

I fear that the massive orchestration of Russophobia over the last two years is intended to prepare public opinion for a wider military conflict centred on the Middle East, but likely to spread, and that we are approaching that endgame. The dislocation of the political and media class from the general population is such, that the levers for people of goodwill to prevent this are, as with Iraq, extremely few as politicians quake in the face of media jingoism. These feel like extremely dangerous times.

The Poison in our Body Politic - Craig Murray
As Porton Down now confirm, here is a straightforward lie from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, a lie that British diplomats around the world have been promoting to foreign governments.

The key point is that the FCO knew it was lying. This was published six days after I was told by an FCO source, and published, that Porton Down scientists were refusing to say the substance came from Russia. The FCO knew this.

I have now received confirmation from a well placed FCO source that Porton Down scientists are not able to identify the nerve agent as being of Russian manufacture, and have been resentful of the pressure being placed on them to do so. Porton Down would only sign up to the formulation “of a type developed by Russia” after a rather difficult meeting where this was agreed as a compromise formulation. 16 March 2018

There has to be some kind of redress for this. If we accept that we live in a society where the public bodies that are supposed to serve us, can lie to us and to the world in order specifically to heat up a cold war, then the future is bleak. This is a direct consequence of the lack of suitable punishment for those involved in the crime of creating lies to wage aggressive war on Iraq, particularly Tony Blair, Richard Dearlove and John Scarlett. As they are not in jail, Boris is confident he will not be either.

We have learned nothing from the Iraq War experience, and what is most disheartening is that officials within the FCO and security services still do not see it as their job to prevent lies rather than to propagate them when asked by a Minister.

Here is a screenshot of a FCO video showing Laurie Bristow, British Ambassador to Russia, in Moscow telling outright lies to gathered diplomats at a briefing there. The subtitle is accurate.

I have long held the opinion that Bristow is a deeply repulsive individual with no morals or scruples. When I was sacked as British Ambassador to Tashkent for criticising Uzbekistan’s human rights record and objecting to MI6 use of intelligence from the Uzbek torture chambers, Bristow went to Tashkent after my removal to assure the Uzbeks that the UK had no interest in human rights and wished to continue “intelligence cooperation”. That somebody like Bristow can become one of Britain’s most senior Ambassadors says all you need to know about the United Kingdom today.

Litvinenko and the Demise of British Justice | OffGuardian
by James O’Neill February 11th, 2016 In the wake of the bizarre and troubling elisions and falsehoods already apparent in the Skripal case, it seems an opportune time to revisit the equally controversial case of Alexander Litvinenko, the former KGB officer and employee of Boris Berezovsky, allegedly poisoned with polonium on orders of the Kremlin in 2006. In a companion piece to our earlier study by British lawyer Alexander Mercouris, here barrister James O’Neill gives his own opinion on the case The publication on 21 January 2016 of the report by British Judge Sir Robert Owen on the death of Alexander Litvinenko was predictably seized upon by anti-Russian elements as confirmation of their conviction that Russia in general and President Putin in particular were the personification of modern day evil. The Elephant In The Room - Craig Murray
Nerve agents including Sarin and VX are manufactured by the British Government in Porton Down, just 8 miles from where Sergei Skripal was attacked. The official British government story is that these nerve agents are only manufactured “To help develop effective medical countermeasures and to test systems”.

The UK media universally accepted that the production of polonium by Russia was conclusive evidence that Vladimir Putin was personally responsible for the murder of Alexander Litvinenko. In the case of Skripal, po-faced articles like this hilarious one in the Guardian speculate about where the nerve agent could possibly have come from – while totally failing to mention the fact that incident took place only eight miles from the largest stock of nerve agent in western Europe.

The investigation comprises multiple strands. Among them is whether there is any more of the nerve agent in the UK, and where it came from.

Chemical weapons experts said it was almost impossible to make nerve agents without training. “This needs expertise and a special place to make it or you will kill yourself. It’s only a small amount, but you don’t make this in your kitchen,” one said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, a former commanding officer at the UK’s chemical, biological and nuclear regiment, said: “This is pretty significant. Nerve agents such as sarin and VX need to be made in a laboratory. It is not an insufficient task. Not even the so-called Islamic State could do it.”

Falling over themselves in the rush to ramp up the Russophobia, the Guardian quotes

“One former senior Foreign Office adviser suggested the Kremlin was taking advantage of the UK’s lack of allies in the US and EU. He said the British government was in a “weaker position” than in 2006 when two Kremlin assassins poisoned the former FSB officer Alexander Litvinenko with a radioactive cup of tea.

The adviser said the use of nerve agent suggested a state operation…”

It certainly does. But the elephant in the room is – which state?

You don’t really have to read either of these Foreign Policy articles mentioned below. Whether the authors are arguing It’s Time to Bomb North Korea or It is Not Time to Bomb North Korea, the basic narrative is the same: There are pros and cons in using nuclear bombs to ‘stop’ the threat of North Korea. Both ‘arguments’ are framed in such a way so as to give the ‘impression’ that Serious Debate is taking place. Indeed, the subtitle for each might be: Be prepared for intelligent discussions on the moral and legal and ethical consequences of using nuclear or other bombs to annihilate a sovereign country. And its people. But no. Most of the pros and cons are the same. World building is the best part of writing,” Andy Weir tells me. The software engineer turned writer is getting his practice in. In his 2011 novel The Martian, he built a Mars base, complete with carefully calculated Earth-Mars rocket schedules and chemistry-hacked potato farming. It was made into a 2015 hit movie grossing over $600 million (“I live in a bigger house now,” he tells me).

We get to see Weir’s newest creation this month with the release of his new novel, Artemis. The action is set on a lunar city in the not-too-distant future, which Weir calculated as much as imagined. He estimated the cost of reaching the moon from Earth by assuming a future commercial launch industry that will reach the efficiencies of today’s airlines, then combining those numbers with an obscure and complex Earth-moon orbit called the Uphoff-Crouch Cycler. He wrote a 10-page economic analysis constructing the future lunar economy, whose currency, the slug, is based on the cost of transporting one gram from the Earth. He referenced modern-day nuclear power plant designs in determining the base’s energy production and consumption budget.

“The total time that passed by while I was working on Artemis, just the city,…Read More…

The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie - Craig Murray
Only the Tories could produce a sex dossier like this one, in tremendous High Tory prose. They talk of “impregnation” and “fornication”. This provides some backing for its authenticity.

It is difficult to understand the provenance of this “sex list” of Tory MPs. What was the standing of the junior Tory researchers who allegedly compiled it, and at whose behest? Assuming this copy is genuine, we know that at least some of it is accurate because individuals like Mark Garnier have admitted the detail of the allegation. But I publish it as a matter of intense public interest at the moment, and I publish it as evidence that this is what is alleged. This list is already extremely widely available online. I am not in any sense endorsing or promoting as true any of the specific individual allegations, which may be groundless nonsense. I understand that in some cases these allegations are strongly denied.

Except for the Liam Fox and Adam Werritty bit, we all know that is true.

What is genuinely alarming about this list is the clear picture that emerges overall that the pool of MPs’ researchers, who are often young and are in a subservient position in this context, are viewed as fair game for MPs’ sexual predation. The list of 40 Tory MPs (NB Not 36) includes 23 who are accused of inappropriate behaviour towards researchers, secretaries and others in a dependent position. This is disgusting exploitation and may be justly compared to the Weinstein affair.

But some of the other allegations do not strike me as of genuine public interest. Personal sexual preferences between consenting adults are not my business, and I detect a definite whiff of homophobia in some of these details. If somebody likes to be peed on by three men, what has that got to do with his ability or integrity as an MP? Similarly the concern about extra-marital affairs seems to come from a bygone age. If the several citings of Kwesi Kwerteng are true, the man has truly appalling taste. Women appear to be dubiously targeted for mere promiscuity.

Tories are sleazebags. Who knew?

In 2011 when his country was subject to a jihadist siege, President Bashar el-Assad's reaction was against the norm: rather than strengthening the powers of his security services, he cut them back. Six years on, his country is in the process of emerging victorious, in the most important war since Vietnam. This same type of aggression is unfolding in Latin America. Yet here, it is sparking off a far more classic response. In this article, Thierry Meyssan distinguishes the analysis and strategy of President Assad on the one hand and Maduro and Morales on the other. His aim is not to place these leaders in competition, but rather to call upon each of them to remove themselves from political catechisms and to pay due attention to the lessons learnt from the most recent (...) via The anti-imperialist camp: splintered in thought, by Thierry Meyssan

Photo: Reuters   By Stephen Gowans in What’s Left A number of countries have recently tested ballistic or cruise missiles and a handful, not least Russia and China, possess nuclear-tipped ICBMs capable of striking the United States. And yet the missiles and nuclear weapons program of only one of these countries, North Korea, arouses consternation in Washington. What makes tiny North Korea, within its miniscule defense budget, and rudimentary nuclear arsenal and missile capability, a threat so menacing that “worry has spread in Washington and the United Nations”? [1] “The truth,” it has been said, “is often buried on the front page of The New York Times.” [2] This is no less true of the real reason Washington frets about North Korea’s missile tests. Venezuela Under Siege by U.S. Empire | OffGuardian
by David William Pear, July 20, 2017, The Real News Network It is all about the oil. Whatever else one hears about Venezuela, it is all about the oil. That is what one needs to know first about why the U.S. Empire has Venezuela under siege. It is about the oil. When President Trump says, “Venezuela is a mess; Venezuela is a mess, we will see what happens”, it is all about the oil. When the U.S. Empire imposes sanctions on Venezuela, it is all about the oil. When the mainstream corporate media (i.e. Fake News) cries crocodile tears about democracy, human rights and political prisoners in Venezuela, it is about the oil. When the U.S. calls into session emergency meeting of the United Nations and the Organization of American States, it is about oil. How Prison Labor Is the New American Slavery | OffGuardian
by Sara Burrows, June 13, 2016, via Return to Now If you buy products or services from any of the 50 companies listed below (and you likely do), you are supporting modern American slavery. American slavery was technically abolished in 1865, but a loophole in the 13th Amendment has allowed it to continue “as a punishment for crimes” well into the 21st century.  Not surprisingly, corporations have lobbied for a broader and broader definition of “crime” in the last 150 years.  As a result, there are more (mostly dark-skinned) people performing mandatory, essentially unpaid, hard labor in America today than there were in 1830. With 5 percent of the world’s population and 25 percent of the world’s prison population, the United States has the largest incarcerated population in the world.  No other society in history has imprisoned more of its own citizens.  There are half a million more prisoners in the U.S. than in China, which has five times our population.  Approximately 1 in 100 adults in America were incarcerated in 2014.  Out of an adult population of 245 … via How Prison Labor Is the New American Slavery

Enclosure of Gaza as a “Prison Territory” | OffGuardian
by Prof. Michel Chossudovsky, via Global Research Construction of New High Tech Surveillance Wall to Separate Gaza from Israel Israeli media reports confirm the construction of a new high tech 65 km security and surveillance wall equipped with cameras and sensors “to separate Gaza from Israel” thereby reinforcing the enclosure of Gaza as a de facto “prison territory” with a population of more than 1.85 million. This initiative constitutes the latest stage of a process started in 1994 with the establishment of the so-called Israel Gaza security barrier. As we recall the barrier was in part torn down during the Second Intifada in 2000 and was then rebuilt. There has been virtually no coverage or analysis of this latest project. “The ambitious project, budgeted to cost 3 billion shekhels ($850 million), will see an integrated wire fence, 6 to eight metres high, equipped with sensors and cameras built above the ground, over the 65-kilometre Gazan border, while heavy concrete slabs strengthened with iron rods will be built dozens of metres underground.” The Jerusalem Post (June … via Enclosure of Gaza as a “Prison Territory”

Unacknowledged both by Leavers and Remainers, EU membership has served to disguise the messy contradictions of Britain’s multinational state. The uninhibited restoration of parliamentary sovereignty – in this context, the brute expression of English dominance – is no solution. In recent decades, the EU has helped to ease tensions at national borders as well as serving as a safety net for devolution. The Grenfell tragedy is a direct result of the Tories’ openly declared war on health and safety | Pride's Purge

And ignoring health and safety at Grenfell was not a one-off case.

Since they came to power, the Tories and their friends in the right-wing tabloids have DEMONISED what they call the “health and safety monster”, because it harms the ability of private companies to make a profit.

Watch this video of David Cameron in 2012, openly DECLARING WAR on health and safety, and after you’ve watched the video, share it so people can see why we have to in turn declare war on a culture that puts our children’s lives at risk for the sake of profit:

The Three Most Important Facts About Tory Economics - Craig Murray
1) From 2010 to 2017 Corporation Tax in the UK reduced drastically from 28% to 19%

The UK now has notably lower corporate tax rates than most other large developed countries

On top of which HMRC has a particularly accommodating attitude to corporate tax avoidance.

2) But the corporations have not put any of the cash from this massive tax cut into investment

3) Rather all of the corporation tax giveaway has gone straight into the pockets of the rich, through massive executive pay increases and shareholder dividend increases.

I am sorry I could not find a more up to date version than 2015 of that chart, but it has got no better, and it illustrates well how since 2010 the corporation tax rate cuts in the UK – the green line – have resulted in a ludicrous explosion of dividends to earnings compared to international norms.

So the Tory corporation cuts have done nothing to help the wider economy at all, but simply lined the personal pockets of the already rich. It has almost no effect in stimulating the wider economy, and to reverse the cuts in corporation tax to pay for public sector investment is both prudent and likely to be effective in boosting economic growth.

Reflections on the counter-revolution in France | OffGuardian
by Frank, with apologies to Edmund Burke for the paraphrase One of the more significant features of the recent French Presidential election was the widespread predictability of the outcome. It was taken for granted that the establishment, cardboard cut-out, hologram candidate – Macron – representing the alt-centre, would win the final electoral contest against Madame Le Pen by a comfortable margin; and so it turned out, Macron winning by 66% to Le Pen’s 34% of votes cast. Okay, there was a widespread abstention amounting to 25% of the registered electorate, a 10% spoliation of ballot papers, and, in addition, tactical voting against Le Pen in the second-round run-off. This left about 25% of the French electorate, those overwhelmingly petit-bourgeois and miscellaneous air-heads, who voted for Marcon rather than against Le Pen, but who had scant ideas of what Macron’s programme for France would entail. This wasn’t surprising, however, since he was simply a continuity candidate who offered nothing remotely significant in policy terms other than more of the same. Endgame: Comparing results and intentions in the terrorism narrative | OffGuardian
Generally speaking, ideas are like plants and animals. Over time, they evolve, things change - we keep what works and throw away what doesn't. Humans don't have tails. Dolphins don't have feet. Moths without camouflage get eaten. Methods and techniques are perfected, and accepted as "the way things are done". If you want to move something efficiently, you need wheels. If you want to lift something heavy, you use levers and pulleys. We make knives out of steel because it's hard and can take an edge. We make clothes out of wool because its warm. France’s election at gunpoint | OffGuardian
from Defend Democracy Press The first round of the elections in France is being held against the backdrop of an attempt by the state and the media to use the violent incident on the Champs Elysées, involving a gunman who is alleged to have been acting on behalf of ISIS, to create an atmosphere of political hysteria. With over 50,000 soldiers and policemen set to deploy to polling stations tomorrow, the elections are to be held at gunpoint. The Impending Clash Between the U.S. and Russia | OffGuardian
by Mike Whitney, 7 April 2017, UNZ Review President Donald Trump’s missile attack on the Shayrat Airfield in Western Syria was a poorly planned display of imperial muscle-flexing that had the exact opposite effect of what was intended. While the attack undoubtedly lifted the morale of the jihadists who have been rampaging across the country for the last six years, it had no military or strategic value at all. The damage to the airfield was very slight and there is no reason to believe it will impact the Syrian Army’s progress on the ground. The attack did however kill four Syrian servicemen which means the US troops in Syria can no longer be considered part of an international coalition fighting terrorism. The US is now a hostile force that represents an existential threat to the sovereign government. Is that the change that Trump wanted? The pretext: I don’t think that anybody seriously believes that Assad or anybody else in the Syrian government really ordered a chemical weapons attack on anybody.  To believe that it would require you to find the following sequence logical: first, Assad pretty much wins the war against Daesh which is in full retreat.  Then, the US declares that overthrowing Assad is not a priority anymore (up to here this is all factual and true).  Then, Assad decides to use weapons he does not have.  He decides to bomb a location with no military value, but with lots of kids and cameras.  Then, … via A multi-level analysis of the US cruise missile attack on Syria and its consequences

Why did the American Military take precautions to prevent “fanciful” impossibilities? | OffGuardian
by Kit Late last night, The Pentagon stated that their attack on the Syrian Government air-base near Homs was not targeting the regime’s supposed chemical weapon stocks. Despite “all the signs” pointing to Assad’s guilt, and it being “very likely” that this base is where the gas attack originated…no efforts were made to destroy any chemical weapons. At all. The Pentagon’s official statement says: The strike was a proportional response to Assad’s heinous act. Shayrat Airfield was used to store chemical weapons and Syrian air forces. The U.S. intelligence community assesses that aircraft from Shayrat conducted the chemical weapons attack on April 4. And that the attack… …was intended to deter the regime from using chemical weapons again.” But the targets were limited to: …aircraft, hardened aircraft shelters, petroleum and logistical storage, ammunition supply bunkers, air defense systems, and radars. So they “know” where the chemical weapons are. And they “know” Assad used them on civilians and (for all they know) may well do so again. So why not target and destroy these weapons? Evidence Calls Western Narrative About Syrian Chemical Attack Into Question | OffGuardian
by William Craddick, 6 April 2017, Disobedient Media The April 4th, 2017 incident at Khan Sheikhoun has provoked an emotional response around the world after images began to emerge showing civilian adults and children apparently suffering from the effects of chemical weapons.  US President Donald Trump has stated that the attack has totally changed his views towards the Syrian civil war, and may alter his intended strategy there. Although Western media immediately accused Bashar al-Assad of participating in a gas attack against his own people, the evidence indicates that the intended target was not immediately in a civilian area and was in fact a location where Syrian White Helmets were on the scene with rebel groups at what observers have claimed was a storage facility for conventional and chemical munitions. Additionally, evidence indicates that rebel groups may have had prior knowledge of the attack and knew that there was a risk of chemical weapons being unleashed. International Trade Linked to Millions of Deaths Worldwide | Awaresy.com
Millions of people around the world die prematurely from diseases caused by air pollution.

A new study has linked the effects of globalization and international trade on air pollution emissions and air quality.

The study, published in the journal Nature, reveals that 3.45 million people died as a result of air pollution associated with the transport of goods and services in 228 countries across the world in 2007.

According to the study over 400,000 deaths in 2007 can be attributed to air pollution which came from one region of the world to another.

Chinese emissions caused more than twice the number of deaths worldwide than the emissions of any other region, followed by emissions produced in India and the rest of Asia region. For example, PM2.5 pollution produced in China is linked to more than 64,800 premature deaths in other regions, including over 3,100 deaths in Western Europe and the US. Meanwhile consumption in Western Europe and the US is linked to over 108,600 premature deaths in China.

One of the study’s researchers, Professor Dabo Guan, said the study showed that “In our global economy, the goods and services consumed in one region may entail production of large quantities of air pollution, and related mortality, in other regions.”

Thousands of facts about air pollution and overall planetary contamination are revealed in The Contamination Report.
