Luis Felipe (murderer) - Wikipedia
world-records = "In 1995, he was convicted of ordering multiple murders from prison by writing to members of the Latin Kings on the outside. Judge John S. Martin Jr. sentenced him to life imprisonment plus 45 years.

Additionally, the judge added some extraordinary conditions. Surprising even prosecutors, Judge Martin said Felipe must serve the sentence in solitary confinement. He forbade him to write or be visited by anyone except his lawyer and close relatives, of whom Felipe has none. Finally, the judge said that he himself, rather than the Federal Bureau of Prisons, would control the case."

▶ US Prison Population: The Largest in the World - YouTube
The United States incarcerates more people than any other country in the world—more even than China or Russia. Prof. Daniel J. D'Amico explains that as of 2010 more than 1.6 million people were serving jail sentences in America. Professor D'Amico suggests that "prisons are not what we think about when we think of America, and they shouldn't have to be." According to D'Amico, a free country should not have 1.6 million people in prison, and a fiscally responsible country cannot afford to. As Prof. D'Amico points out, it is time for Americans to recognize that the U.S. criminal justice system is desperately in need of reform. Learn More: 1. "The Caging of America" [article]: Wide ranging New Yorker piece, discusses history, ethics, everyday prisoner experience. A Major Disconnect: Violent Crimes, Public Perception, and the American Prisoner - Ingot News
As of 2009, there were 188,000 prisoners in US Federal Prison, and fewer than 15,000 of them were in for violent crimes (7.9%)[iv]. A majority were in for non-violent drug-related crimes (nearly 100,000 or 51%). So while, by definition, the US is seeing a rise in “criminals”, it is not because of an increase in violent crimes, but is due to stricter punishments for petty, often victimless crimes.

Four Things I Learned from Coaching 'Poor Black Kids' - Forbes
See "Noble Truth #3" on page 2:
"If there’s any generalization we can make about “kids,” it’s that over the millennia they tend to take their cues from adults. And when the adults in their midst support sports over debate, pop music over great books, polarizing opinion over deep critical inquiry, you can guess the result."

'Incognito': What's Hiding In The Unconscious Mind : NPR
crime, prison = Starting at 19:30, they talk about reforming the prison system, with the example of the guy who got up on the Texas Tower and killed a bunch of people. In his suicide note, he said he wanted an autopsy done because "I know something inside of me has been changing for the last year or so." A post-event autopsy revealed that he had, for the last year, had a brain tumor growing which was impinging on the part of the brain that deals with fear and agression.
