I Was a Psychic Spy for the CIA, and I Found God – A True Story
Reminds me of Robert Monroe's "Journeys Out Of The Body" that I first read at Linden Library back in the late 80's, early 90's.

The City of Linden, NJ - Ordinances
Tool to find ordinances. Using the search function for "parking" (and sifting through the various documents until I came to the one called, paradoxically, "Traffic") I was able to find the ordinance about trucks over a certain size not being allowed to park between 2am and 6am.

How the West Is Owned | Big Think
"Many thanks to Jonathan Leblang and Adam Hahn for signaling this map, which appeared as an illustration to ‘Can the West Lead Us To A Better Place?‘[1], an article in Stanford Magazine, a periodical for and about alumni from that university. Update: the map can be found in higher resolution – and with a long, long comments section – here [2] on Reddit. ............. Teen Who Hacked CIA Director's Email Tells How He Did It | WIRED
When it's not weak ass passwords, it's fucking stupid ass front line tech support giving away the keys to the kingdom. Fucking idiots. As it says at the end of the article, the method was very similar to what was used in the 2012 hack of Mat Honan. ..... "He says they first did a reverse lookup of Brennan’s mobile phone number to discover that he was a Verizon customer. Then one of them posed as a Verizon technician and called the company asking for details about Brennan’s account. “[W]e told them we work for Verizon and we have a customer on scheduled callback,” he told WIRED. The caller told Verizon that he was unable to access Verizon’s customer database on his own because “our tools were down.”"

What is really bankrupting us: Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, military-industrial complex, NSA, keeping people (including Americans) oppressed. .... U.S. Companies Now Stashing $2 Trillion Overseas. That total is now greater than the amount held on U.S. shores. : news
First comment does make a good point, though: "The U.S. "is also one of the few countries to tax worldwide corporate income, rather than just domestic earnings. This creates a clear incentive for companies to keep their foreign earnings abroad, and this is unlikely to change,""

republicans = Because they are always talking about the free market, smaller government, but then shit like this happens and you don't hear a peep. "That drug prices (even non-controlled drugs that the DEA doesn't care about, like blood pressure pills) are at least twice as high in the US as anywhere else in the world, because your congress was bribed by the pharmaceutical lobby into setting up a system where third party drug imports are outlawed, and US companies are allowed to gouge the US consumer at will. It's not a free market. A drug like Lipitor, all of which is made in Ireland, costs Canadians half what it does "

Student Uncovers US Military Secrets - Slashdot
About 10 years ago I read two unrelated articles within about a week of each other. The first stated that some smart chap had just figured out how to read the blacked out words in redacted government documents. The second stated that the government was changing it's default font for classified documents from Courier, which looks like this to Times New Roman, which we all know and loathe. Neither article mentioned the other, but it was starkly obvious why the government decided to change its default font.

For 20 Years the Nuclear Launch Code at US Minuteman Silos Was 00000000
employees-insubordination = A new tag to give to items that show how, although "leaders" are supposed to be in charge, it's really the people with their fingers on the physical button who run the show. This is both good and bad: good because the common man is usually the one with his finger on the button. Bad because the common man is usually convinced or coerced by "the man" to do "the man's" bidding regardless of his or her personal feelings. ............... In this bookmark, this is the paragraph that shows the insubordination: "Those in the U.S. that had been fitted with the devices, such as ones in the Minuteman Silos, were installed under the close scrutiny of Robert McNamara, JFK's Secretary of Defence. However, The Strategic Air Command greatly resented McNamara's presence and almost as soon as he left, the code to launch the missile's, all 50 of them, was set to 00000000." ---------------------------- passwords, world-records = https://www.quora.com/Passwords/What-are-the-most
