Giuliani now says the fact Trump signed a Letter of Intent for Trump Moscow is meaningless -- but just a few days ago Giuliani insisted Trump hadn't signed it. In related news, up is down, black is white, and we have always been at war with Oceania. : Mar
strategy, lies-lying = "I can't find it quickly, I'll search later,

But Guiliani tipped his hand at his strategy and this fits right in.

He said in an interview that his plan was to spread as many differing stories, as much misinformation as possible, to cloud the truth.

He feels that this isn't going to come down to a court of law, it's going to come down to public opinion .(The theory is that he will be facing impeachment, not criminal charges.. at least during his presidency) and the "jurors" on that case will judge based on their constituents' desires.

If he can keep enough people doubting Meuller's story by clouding the waters with misinformation, then he can keep Trump in office."

statistics, religion = (I am implying the religion part myself)
"I swear, if humanity had a better instinctive understanding of statistics and how randomness works we'd be **SO** much better off.

As it is it takes weeks, even months, of study to understand why that's a BS belief, and even then it only make sense on a sort of rarefied intellectual level not down in our emotions where we form so many of our beliefs."

books-to-buy = "“Now I will tell you the answer to my question. It is this. The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from the oligarchies of the past in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives. They pretended, perhaps they even believed, that they had seized power unwillingly and for a limited time, and that just around the corner there lay a paradise where human beings would be free and equal. We are not like that. We know that no one ever seizes power with the intention of relinquishing it. Power is not a means; it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power. Now you begin to understand me.” ― George Orwell, 1984"

Don’t let Trump’s use of celebrities distract you from his criminal-justice failures : TrueReddit
A good list of the things wrong with Trump:
"Under President Trump, we have returned to the indiscriminate use of lengthy mandatory minimum sentences for lower-level, nonviolent drug offenders. His administration has erased significant strides in police reform across the country — not only refusing to move forward with previously negotiated consent decrees but also refusing to help police departments as they seek reform assistance from the Justice Department. It has revoked guidance on the potential legal consequences of excessive fines, fees and cash bail that criminalize poverty. It has reversed a mandate to reduce and ultimately end the use of private prisons that are less safe and do not rehabilitate inmates. It has abandoned the “clemency initiative” launched by President Barack Obama that commuted prison terms for more than 1,700 low-level drug offenders. And despite its professed interest in prison reform, it has ended Obama-era reforms to the Federal Bureau of Prisons designed to provide inmates with tools they need to successfully reenter society, including the creation of a “school district” that would for the first time offer high school diplomas and address learning disabilities and illiteracy in our federal prison system."

This is the face of a terrorist: White people must understand the damage done by group blame that follows other terror attacks : TrueReddit
Talking about the Austin bomber, who turned out to be a 28 year old

Holy cow. The police chief said "“He does not at all mention anything about terrorism nor does he mention anything about hate, but instead it is the outcry of a very challenged young man, talking about challenges in his personal life,”" - un-fucking-believable. If he was brown, that fucker would never have been considered "challenged"

The myth of the male bumbler
The thing I've always noticed: When someone gets caught and put on trial, they can never seem to remember. They didn't see it the way the victim saw it. Their heads were so in the clouds, they had no idea such and such was going on. ... All the while, they're at the top of their game, running multi-billion dollar global corporations (Bill Gates, not mentioned in this story, during Microsoft's monopoly trial) or putting out a full-length movie per year (Woody Allen) or the nation's top cop (Atty General Jeff Sessions)

As the last line of the article says: "You can be a bumbler, or you can keep your job. You can't have both."

Not technically a lone-shooter, but the same style. I remember this happening shortly after 9/11 (seems like less, but evidently it was a year after it in Oct 2002) and everyone thought it was a small scale Al Qaeda attempt at terrorism.

'Incognito': What's Hiding In The Unconscious Mind : NPR
crime, prison = Starting at 19:30, they talk about reforming the prison system, with the example of the guy who got up on the Texas Tower and killed a bunch of people. In his suicide note, he said he wanted an autopsy done because "I know something inside of me has been changing for the last year or so." A post-event autopsy revealed that he had, for the last year, had a brain tumor growing which was impinging on the part of the brain that deals with fear and agression.
