Jacob Wohl's right-wing hoaxes work. Trolls want to be talked about. : TrueReddit
childrearing-bullying = This is basically the adult version of bullying. They know they are wrong, but they don't care - it's the attention they are doing it for.

I commented with this:

"I just had a realization - correct me if I'm wrong, but this is basically the adult version of a bully.

Bullies know they are wrong, but their do it for the attention - from the victim, from the teacher or principal.

I'm not trying to humanize these mutants, but I'm curious if this idea has any legs, because if it does, perhaps there's a treatment program for them:

Bullies are bullies because they feel powerless and have likely experienced some emotional trauma that relates to their powerlessness

Children act out as bullies because their limited emotional growth doesn't let them see any other way to react to their situation

My theory:

These conservative trolls are individuals who are fearful of the world, feel powerless and have somehow experienced something that has stunted their emotional growth, causing them to act out in these reprehensible ways."

Hotel worker fired for sending Facebook abuse to journalist |
I always had the sense that this was the case: "As Ford told the Daily Mail in an interview, most of the harassment she gets comes from young boys, typically 14 or 15 years old."

Meaghan Ramsey: Why thinking you're ugly is bad for you | Talk Video | TED.com
Kids today are looking to the outside for validation - not much different than previous generations, but the tools at their disposal and the default "always on" nature of the internet make it much more dangerous. ........ FACT: No matter how you ACTUALLY look or how much you ACTUALLY weigh, your performance suffers if you feel ugly or if you feel overweight.
