taskset is used to set or retrieve the CPU affinity of a running pro- cess given its PID or to launch a new COMMAND with a given CPU affin- ity. CPU affinity is a scheduler property that "bonds" a process to a given set of CPUs on the system. The Linux scheduler will honor the given CPU affinity and the process will not run on any other CPUs. Note that the Linux scheduler also supports natural CPU affinity: the scheduler attempts to keep processes on the same CPU as long as practi- cal for performance reasons. Therefore, forcing a specific CPU affin- ity is useful only in certain applications.

Legit: The Sexy Git CLI
Legit is a new tool that allows you to interface with a Git respository much like you would with GitHub for Mac—from the command line.

Switching branches becomes seamless. Any pending changes are automatically stashed and restored. Same goes with syncing your repository. And merging (grafting). And branching (sprouting).

Managing remote branches becomes as simple as publish branch and unpublish branch. Simple.

cl-launch, now with standalone executables
I am glad to announce version 2.09 of my old piece of semi-useful software, CL-Launch, an infrastructure to easily make your Common Lisp software launchable from a Unix command line.

The main novelty that justifies the announcement is that standalone executables are now supported with the newly-released SBCL 1.0.22, so you can deliver your Lisp application as a one binary that only requires the usual

It takes years maybe decades to master the commands available to you at the Linux shell prompt. Here are 10 that you will have never heard of or used. They are in no particular order. My favorite is mkfifo.
