How to install Raspbmc on USB
The Raspberry Pi has brought us a very affordable option for running XBMC. Unfortunately from my own experience it was a bit laggy when navigating the menu’s. One of the options to improve performance  is to install Raspbmc to a spare USB flash drive. I saw a significant increase in speed from running Raspbmc in this way.  Here’s how you do it.

What you need

A formatted SD card with a minimum amount of space of 128mb. Don’t worry too much about how good the SD card is as we will only be booting the Raspberry Pi off it.

A formatted USB stick with a minimum of 2GB free. The bigger and faster the better.

Raspberry Pi camera board video streaming » Miguel Mota | Web Developer
So you got your Raspberry Pi and decided to get a Camera Board to do something awesome with it. Why not turn it a simple video streamer? That's what I thought too. I wanted to set up a simple security camera for my home so that I can see spy on whoever is lurking around from wherever I am through a web browser. Turns out it wasn't hard at all to set up. This blog post helped me get started. I'm going to walk you through all the steps I took.

Perl and Raspberry Pi
HiPi::Perl modules version 0.32 have been released containing modules that support GPIO interrupt handling in Perl.

Threads are created to handle interrupt response and pin value polling. True interrupt handling is implemented via the kernel sysfs gpio filespace and HiPi::Device::GPIO. Direct polling of the bcm2835 registers is implemented using the HiPi:: BCM2835 module.

A Guide to Efficiently Using Irssi and Screen
Hilight Window

See the irssi screenshot above. The section labeled “1” is a split window called “hilight”. Anything that is hilighted (set using the /hilight command) will be logged to that window.

To do this, first load the script. The script I use is a modified version of cras’s hilightwin.pl that logs timestamps as well. It is available here: hilightwin.pl
Put the script in ~/.irssi/scripts/autorun/ and type /run autorun/hilightwin.pl in irssi.

Next, create the split window. This is done with the /window command. See /help window for details on how this works.
