says spring onions, but I can't really figure out how they're used. The cherry tomatoes are roasted for an hour, which seems too long.

White Bean Stew With Carrots, Fennel and Peas Recipe - NYT Cooking
uses our favorite small white beans, though there's a special Italian version. If using dried beans, add two hours. good technique on the beans. It's basically a side, but very elaborate and almost a full vegetarian meal. 5/9/17. White Bean Stew with Fennel and Peas. I added some chicken sausage. It was very good. A fair amount of preparation, and the dried beans need to cook for a couple of hours, but they have a delicious fragrance from the rosemary. But it’s a meal to make ahead and reheat. Not sure what the 9-minute egg added. Very much a Carmela meal.

Mâche with Spicy Melon and Pink-Peppercorn Dressing - BigOven 1175442
4/29/15. Mache with Spicy Melon and Pink Peppercorn Dressing. Many substitutions: I used mesclun instead of mache, canary melon instead of galia or Crenshaw, etc., and penja peppercorns instead of pink. No big difference, I think. It was a surprise and very good. The dressing really does only need a tablespoon or two of oil, and the ensemble is not overwhelmingly sweet. It would make a good summer salad for guests. 5/6/15. Mache with Spicy Melon and Pink-Peppercorn Dressing. I used last week’s dressing (made with canary melon) and galia melon, and I don’t think it was as good as the fresh dressing with canary melon.We’ll see how long the dressing keeps.

4/3/15. Baked Greek Shrimp with Tomatoes and Feta. Pretty miuch the same as last time, although I increased the heat to broil so that I could do asparagus on top, and still it took twenty minutes for the shrimp to be cooked – and not overcooked. Still, good. The more feta the better. 2/13/15. Baked Greek Shrimp with Tomatoes and Feta. Very easy to put together, although I messed up the layering. However, I wasn’t sure the shrimp were fully cooked after ten minutes (the tops seemed rare, not the bottoms), so I let it go another 10 minutes after stirring. I used canned whole tomatoes, crushed by hand. No mint. It could use another herb or spice, such as the mint, however.

12/18/13. Momofuku Brussels Sprouts. Outstanding. Carmela liked them without the fish-sauce dressing. I browned them in the cast-iron pan (in two batches) and then roasted them in a 400º oven for about ten or fifteen minutes.

The eggs are separate. Not very complicated, but could be good. 12/21/13. Soy Saucy Chicken + Momofuku Brussels Sprouts. The chicken was perfectly good. I skipped the diced tomatoes and shiitake mushrooms, which might have added something, but I was happy anyway. The brussels sprouts burned – in the oven too long. 12/18/13. Momofuku Brussels Sprouts. Recipe: Lemon Braised Chicken & Beans with Mint Pesto | The Kitchn
There's a slow cooker variation. In a Dutch oven, it cooks 1 1/2 hours. The lemon peel is fat strips, so avoidable. 2/18/14. Lemon-Braised Chicken and Beans with Mint Pesto. This worked out well, although I made a few changes. I used orange zest strips and orange juice rather than lemon, and basil pesto (no cheese) rather than mint. Although I would like to try the mint version sometime, the orange was a nice change and in some ways better, it seemed to me. I didn't use the dill.

Salmon in Lemon Brodetto with Pea Puree Recipe : Giada De Laurentiis : Recipes : Food Network
4/7/15. Salmon in Lemon Brodetto with Pea Puree. I was able to get the salmon skin perfectly by using very hot oil in the cast iron pan and the bacon press to hold then salmon down. Then I put the pan and fish into the oven. When it was done, I took it out, and turned the fish to crisp up the flesh side a little. Carmela liked that. The pea puree, which is really very easy to do, was quite good, though I omitted the parmesan, which just seemed unnecessary. The brodetto seemed unnecessary. 10/11/13. This worked perfectly this night. I cooked the salmon in the cast-iron pan and waited until the oil was quite hot. That resulted in a beautifully crisp skin. However, the salmon needed to cook much longer on the second side than in the recipe. But it came out fine. The pea puree was nice enough (maybe should be sieved), but I liked it better with a bit of roasted jalapeno processed into it. The lemon brodetto was very nice, although I didn’t serve it to Carmela.

Calamari With Herbs and Polenta -
3/25/12. The squid released a great deal of water when I put them in the pan, and the sauce turned out very soupy, as was the polenta. the dish seems rather dull and flavorless. Later I reduced the sauce and it had quite a bit of flavor.

Baked Pasta with Shrimp Recipe - Marcia Kiesel | Food & Wine
takes about 45 minutes 2/9/12. I liked this a lot; it was fresh and light, but filling. I used creme fraiche instead of cream, and although it was all absorbed, it would be good to try with cream. Also didn't use mint or almonds, but didn't miss them. 12/6/13. Baked Pasta with Shrimp. I followed the recipe a little closer tis time, reducing the shrimp stock to the proper amount, proportionally. I did do the garlic-pepper oil, with four garlic cloves, and it was not a dominating taste. Didn’t use the mint or almonds, but it did need something green. Cilantro or parsley would be good. I added some frozen corn to the shrimp as I cooked them, and that was fine. You could add red pepper, too. shopping list: cream, almonds, mint, saffron, aleppo pepper, angel hair pasta

Zucchini Carpaccio with Salt-Broiled Shrimp Recipe - Jason Stratton | Food & Wine
two interesting things: pine nut sauce and salt baked shrimp. Pine nut sauce takes about an hour, though, and requires a lot of pine nuts. Despite all the moving parts, it`s not a difficult recipe to put together once the pine nut sauce is done.
