So they got bacteria to build silk proteins with are almost twice as long as real spider silk proteins, thus the doubled protein is now a near match in performance to true spider silk fiber (true spider silk fiber benefits from good protein design and spinner design though). They seem to think it should be possible to use the fusing method to build even longer proteins to up the strength.

A synthetic pathway for the fixation of carbon dioxide in vitro | Science
Artificial CO2 fixation cycle (CETCH) made from a combo of 11 enzymes found across animals and plants appears to be 2-3 times faster and 25% more energy efficient than the Calvin cycle, but outputs a weird glyoxylate (which can be further converted to other stuff but...) rather than glucose so now just need to stuff a synthetic bacterium with DNA to build and operate those 11 enzymes to see if it really is better than photosynthesis. Primary boost is replacing RuBisCO with the enzyme ECR for better initial CO2 capture.

Apparently they have a good high temperature steam electrolysis SOEC that can produce hydrogen at decent efficiencies, for feeding into a RWGS conversion reactor syngas production rig, to eventually produce synthetic methane (combining syngas from the reactor with additional H2 from the SOEC), or eventually via FT, synthetic liquid fuels. They don't seem to be doing a coelectrolysis SOEC to crack steam and CO2 simultaneously in the same cell stack though.

SOLAR-JET - Zero-carbon jet fuel from sunlight
Apparently they demoed a working solar thermal CO2 cracker to make syngas, a precursor for synthetic fuels. Single chamber, not obvious but previous methods that used a rotating medium are replaced by a single porous ceria medium (so solid state/non-rotating then).

SRI Research Identifies Environmentally Friendly Process to Make Coal-Based Liquid Fuel
They found a way to cut capital cost in half versus a FT CTL plant by using LNG/methane as a hydrogen and heat source rather than water/steam, but the $/gallon is higher than a FT CTL plant. I suppose it might make sense in water poor areas that have either coal or LNG access.
