XCOM - X-ray communications research
Reusing x-ray position beacon development work as a simple transmitter. Can potentially punch through reentry plasma sheaths as well, and may be low power. Bandwidth isn't very high for now (mostly brute force morse at the moment)

Medical devices powered by the ear itself - MIT Media Relations
Tapping a biological "battery" current source in the ear to power microelectronics. Potential applications in implantable hearing aid amplifiers that are "self powered" and thus batteryless.

projectiondesign - high performance projectors
Working on a liquid waveguide cable to connect a rack mounted projector light source to a remote lens (like a fiber optic extension cord) rather than sticking the whole projector at the mount point. Should allow bigger and noisier fans to cool the light source (perhaps with a huge heatsink) rather than deliberately trying to reduce projector weight for overhead mount applications. I wonder what kind of advantages a liquid waveguide confers?
