Intestinal delta-6-desaturase activity determines host range for Toxoplasma sexual reproduction | bioRxiv
The entrepreneur/crazy cat lady parasite can now be farmed in mice, allowing more stock to be available for greater research. Previously they were using cats, but the last place that was breeding cats for parasite harvesting closed so...

Resurrection of the BlackDog parasite screenless thin client? Using techniques similar to the super cheap Raspberry Pi integrated PC, this Cotton Candy device packs an Android OS and can basically take over an HDMI screen or a host Windows/Mac PC via USB, and connect over WiFi to cloud services. The next logical step up is adding a SIM card slot, a GSM/HSPA radio, and USB2Go capability to complete the trifecta. I wonder if they use the same tricks the BlackDog used to take over the host PC (virtual autorun CD and fake ethernet)? It seems like they do it another way though, using USB mass storage and an android VM/emulator...

Flipit USB Charger
A somewhat convenient power socket adapter to provide USB power to recharge a device. The design is somewhat parasitic, using the plug blades of an existing cable to provide power.

CUPP Computing
The idea of a UMPC android netbook that could potentially slide into a 5.25 inch desktop front bay is interesting, shades of older IBM ThinkPad portable desktop core concepts. Return of parasite computing?

RCA's Airenergy charger converts WiFi energy to electricity
Interesting for a nomad/homeless with tech gadgets, leeching power out the air (which the police can't bust you for, as opposed to using an unattended power socket)

Prototype SIM Card Holds Processor, Memory, Storage and the Android OS - PCWorld
The return of the parasite computer, needing an external host/shell to function. In this case, SK Telecom squeezed a full Android cellphone OS directly into the SIM card. Likely not that fast unless you pull some interesting tricks regarding utilizing the host shell cellphone's own host processor/OS. Another take is a device agnostic OS

Taking a different tack, instead of basing a full desktop in the cloud and providing a VNC-like window portal to lesser devices such as smartphones, do the reverse, and have an adaptable smartphone OS architectures that can offload the system as a whole or in part to a nearby cloud computing hosting facility to perform battery intensive operations. This ranges from opportunistic full cloning of the local device to execute on a more powerful server, to using the cloud for always-on external storage and execution of stuff that is too much for a smartphone. Android is a nice bridge here since it's all java either local or remote, so you can abstract a lot of the cloning and adapting pain away.

Plura Processing
This can definitely be used for great good and great evil. The natural fear is a subtle iframe attack defacement on a major site that users leave their browsers open on all the time. Zero install and affiliate model is ripe for abuse. Potentially something as simple as using the affiliate money in a direct loop to fund time on the (somewhat lossy/unstable) grid to crunch captchas and rainbow tables.
