Desktop Metal
Using a inkjet binder with multiple nozzles to print metal to be sintered, one pass doe print and layer powdering in one go so no wasted motion for fairly high speed printing. Apparently also have a 3D parametric part evolver CAD software system called Live Parts.

Optimizing Indirect Memory References with milk
This is not really a new programming language, more like compiler directives for marking deeply parallel sections for optimization in specific ways, enlarging memory usage for to fit modern CPU cache sizes.

Interesting parallel ray grouping algorithm to speed up ray tracing. Apparently the new PowerVR GR6500 mobile GPU's have this trick somewhat built-in now.

Err, seems the idea is to slip an electric motor onto the output shaft of a light aircraft engine to provide electric boost, and a marginal emergency propulsion capability. Sorta parallel hybrid EV...

So, an AI overlay over a corporate BOINC client network. Assuming a corp can eat the added power/heat costs, stealing idle cycles from datacenter (and desktop?) computers might work. Though why does feel like something out of Ghost in the Shell?

XtremeData | Big Data Analytics
These guys in the past used to build hardware database accelerators using Intel in-socket FPGA technology (to slot into CPU sockets with Altera Stratix III FPGA's) like the XD2000i, as a kind of specialized coprocessor much like how GPGPU's are being used now. Seems they were able to move their database technology into software to run on commodity x86 servers now.

QM POWER
Interesting method for electric motor design, which uses tricks to "steer" a magnetic field away from one magnet to assist another one close by to boost flux, in a pulsed sort of approach. Related to switched reluctance motors?

Spectrum-splitting solar modules and Roadmap to 50% efficient Solar Cells
Interesting continuing research into the somewhat obvious ploy of using a optical spectrum splitter to separate light frequencies and send to them frequency optimized discrete solar cells, as a way to surmount the materials science problems of making stacked multijunction multispectrum optimized solar cells. If the light from the primary concentrator is being split by frequency, I wonder if you could do the trick of sending specific light bands left/right/down by using a double prism block? There is the overriding question of whether it would be cheaper to do the beam slitting before or after the concentrator?
