Bicyclobutnae is a pain and expensive to make, so hasn't been seriously researched for rocket propellant research, but using e.coli to make it via enzyme catalyst now makes it a biofuel (biorocketfuel?). 8C boiling point versus cryogenic methane makes for an interesting trade study.

Interesting, for marine propulsion applications that use a gas turbine (selected for compactness/high power), exhaust gas waste energy recovery would be better served by a higher efficiency HRSG steam turbine, but the balance of plant of a steam turbine is so large that a supercritical organic rankine cycle, despite the lower efficiency, wins due to compactness pairing with the compact gas turbine.

Apparently, using ethanol, silane, and an iron catalyst, they can join functionalized olefins in mild conditions, allowing the much easier synthesis for a whole load of new chemicals at lower cost.

A window material technology that darkens when the window gets hot (so it reduces sunlight during the summer but stays transparent in the winter.) So the trick here is not a gradient tint effect, but a sudden window darkening when you hit a critical temperature. They are using this as building insulation as well, to help reject heat in the summer but draw it in when it's cooler outside.
