Research project: VertiKUL
VertiKUL version one was like the Google early cargo drone, a BWB with high/low set rotors on tails as a tail sitter, but the wide wingspan when landing meant wind tossed it around. Version 2 now uses a permanent 45 degree tilt to the rotors, which provide partial lift in forward flight like some FPV racers.

I guess this is an application of fluidic control/coanda effect/ejector entrainment effect. Probably reynolds number scaling issues prevent this from being useful in other applications, but still neat. The interesting question is does it use less energy for a given mass flow?
