So the main trick behind ADANES is using a tungsten grain based solid neutron spallation target that pumps like a liquid, giving fluid properties but solid heat capabilities (to better survive beam trip transients), and the potential to be a windowless particle beam target (improving lifetime).

So their magic sauce is a FPGA image that does SQL offload acceleration, currently implemented as an Altera PCIe card. But when Intel moves to Xeons with integrated Altera FPGA's, they'll be able to work a CPU/main memory speeds. Not like they are slow currently.

So they are using a lesser plasma to be a gain medium for a laser, to make a more laser, to make a stronger plasma wakefield, for a particle accelerator. Rather than starting out with a really powerful laser. Implies tabletop accelerator may be easier now.

GTAT (of Apple sapphire fame) acquired these guys and improved on their high current/energy particle accelerator tech. Allegedly 10x better than equivalent accelerators and very compact at version 3. Should be useful as an injector stage for a larger particle accelerator.

3U PCIe Gen3 expansion chassis. Uses internal PCIe switches and up to 4 x16 uplinks, so at full loadout, every 2 cards share a x16 path to the parent host, so it isn't what you would call 1:1 though. Good enough if you just need raw card numbers or physical space though.

Apparently these guys have a proton accelerator that operates at both high voltage and current, approximately 10x better than current proton accelerators (for what I assume are semiconductor applications...). Useful for making thin wafers for semiconductors, but the proton accelerator part is more interesting.

Oddball electric thruster whose operating mechanic isn't fully understood. Seems to be able to use both the electric and magnetic fields at the same time for better efficiency, and so far it seems to be power limited as far as scaling goes (but something about 50% efficiency in context, so where does the rest of energy go? heat?)

Justifying FS-Cache [LWN.net]
FS-Cache seems to have been merged into the 2.6.30 kernel so is available for NFS systems. Somebody ought to make a nice little VMware VM appliance to grab local RDM SSD's for FS-Cache to grab external NFS shares, then refeed that to the VMware host server as a local NFS datastore. Though that Marvel Dragonfly hardware accelerator which links directly into VMware drivers is probably faster (though less generic).

Interesting work on a filesystem agnostic block device cache implementation using SSD's, as a linux kernel patch. Very similar to ZFS' L2ARC cache which is also intended for use with SSD's. But the big difference is that this is a read/write cache, so technically it is a hybrid of ZIL and L2ARC. Creator works for Google, so this might have legs...

This appears at first glance to be a server local caching card that uses local SSD's, with drivers that hook into the hypervisor's network storage drivers (probably iSCSI, maybe NFS) as a transparent network storage caching layer local to a hypervisor, reducing network IO. Which is an interesting way towards boosting speed, since many VM servers using network storage have idle/empty storage slots onboard.
