The fuel cell for home - Research News June 2014 - Topic 2
Different from Ene-farm rigs, this is an augmented home gas heater, using a reformer and a SOFC fuel cell stack to coproduce power and heat. Not a water heater rig though. Shame you can't chain rig the fuel cell stack with an adsorption cooler plus water heater/space heater.

Deformable mirror corrects errors
Simple idea of reversing laser mirror deformation by heating the opposite side of the laser spot on the mirror with a heating element to equalize distortion more or less. Which is fine as long as you aren't at mirror melting laser heat levels...

Interesting antifouling setup using variable low power current electrolysis of seawater via conductive hull paint to create changing local pH values, which annoys biofouling marine organisms enough to keep them from attaching themselves. Really useful for fiberglass yachts potentially, which frequently feature solar panels, though how that will change the corrosion aspects of other metal parts like propellers will be an issue.

Willkommen bei Solar Fuel
This is the company doing collaborative research with the Faunhofer institute to make small scale combined water electrolysis/syngas to methane production systems for renewable energy storage and synthetic fuel production. Arguably carbon neutral fuel to boot, since the syngas is made via hydrogen liberated from solar powered electrolysis, and CO2 provided from other sources (such as a carbon capture system at a combustion powerplant).

This is interesting because they seem to be focusing on smaller scale Fischer-Tropsch and related processes to make synthetic methane fuel from syngas for energy storage. You usually only see this being done at large scale plants that are intended as net fuel producers for higher hydrocarbons (South African CTL plants as an example)
