Steve Keen on Education - YouTube
economy future relies on innovation. and if you check and monitor to death a system, and add bureaucracy on top of it, and low wages, and being under staffed and being over worked. and crowded, noisy class rooms (unable to spot talent and unable to sponsor). you can't have a prosperous future economy/generation with high social mobility. higher incomes. new industries. // oh and theyve cut research to nothing // oh and the creative digital industry is complaining, and added value industry is complaining about lack of qualified/skilled young workforce. // // UK will lose rest of its heavy industry because of energy prices it can't compete on world wide because it hasn't invested in the Smart Grid, energy storage systems, infrastructure, and renewable energy! Period. Budget2015 they cut all of renewable investment schemes and even had the audacity to put a carbon tax levy on it!

The Fundamental Fallacy of Modern Recruiting | TechCrunch
Engineers in most firms today are also supposed to know at least something about product design, marketing, and customer support for those top-paying enterprise clients. Purely technical roles still exist of course, but they tend to congregate away from consumer and enterprise software into areas such as embedded systems. Interdisciplinary skills may be the hallmark of the modern engineer, but it is precisely that broad and ambiguous skillset that complicates hiring. [...] [HR/Recruiters] have an impossible job looking for these unicorn employees. When we combine the increasing ambiguity of our jobs with the increasing distance of HR recruiters from the actual work taking place, you get everything that is wrong with modern recruiting. [...] [ Founder team should ] take an active role in ensuring that the right employees are being hired. [ And not outsourcing at first chance. ]

Making Computer Science More Inviting: A Look at What Works
“I don’t particularly think that the existing computer science curriculum has been effective for anybody. It needs to be situated in a real-world or meaningful context so people understand why they’re doing it. That doesn’t make it less rigorous — students learn the same things, but in a different way.” — National Center for Women & Information Technology co-founder Lucy Sanders // like applied science, building stuff, real world things as team projects over the course of the whole semester, away from the math, theories, dry textbooks, learning by doing - figuring it out by trial end error (failure),
