Freital: Vom SPD-Modell zur Protest-Hochburg - SPIEGEL ONLINE
june 2015 by asterisk2a
// Book Lars Geiges, Stine Marg, Franz Walter: Pegida. Die schmutzige Seite der Zivilgesellschaft?

Solving the productivity puzzle - BBC News
april 2015 by asterisk2a
UK productivity growth (as measured by output per hour worked) has been exceptionally weak since 2008. Productivity growth has actually been weak across the developed economies since the Great Recession but especially so in the UK. Beyond those facts though, there is little agreement. The talk is instead of a "productivity puzzle": solving that puzzle is the key to both a lower government deficit and to higher living standards. [...] [I]t could be that the nature of Britain's recovery explains the low productivity growth. Rather than lower productivity leading to lower real wages (as companies cannot afford to increase pay), it may be that lower real wages have encouraged firms to hire workers rather than investing in new equipment. This could have lowered productivity. [...] Much of it feels more traditionally "sociological" than "economic". // 2nd Industrial Revolution - Software is Eating the World, Self-Employment, contractors, Zero Hour Contracts, etc. &! bit.ly/1aRi7Bw

OECD moniert wachsende Ungleichheit zwischen Arm und Reich - SPIEGEL ONLINE
december 2014 by asterisk2a

"We are all in this together." [...] &!&!&! http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/hilary-mantel-in-an-interview-with-spiegel-on-the-britain-of-today-a-1002263.html "Interview with Hilary Mantel: 'What's Happening in Britain at the Moment Is Really Ugly'" Hilary Mantel's historical novels are celebrated in Britain, but her critiques of the establishment are widely feared. In a SPIEGEL interview, she says her country is retreating into insularity and to attitudes prevalent in Victorian times. [...] It's a retreat into insularity, into a mood of harshness. When people feel they're being mistreated, they lash out against people who are weaker than themselves, immigrants for example. What's happening here at the moment is really ugly. The government portrays poor and unfortunate people as being morally defective. This is a return to the thinking of the Victorians. Even in the 16th century, Thomas Cromwell was trying to tell people that a thriving economy has casualties [...]

Müllers Memo: Frau Merkels Verständnis von Wirtschaft - SPIEGEL ONLINE
november 2014 by asterisk2a
