Sugary drinks tax 'would stop millions becoming obese' - BBC News
And TV chef Jamie Oliver has campaigned for the tax saying it was the "single most important" change that could be made. The director general of the British Soft Drinks Association, Gavin Partington, said: "The hypothetical claims made in this modelling study run contrary to real-world evidence. "In fact, the soft drinks tax in Mexico has reduced average calorie intake by six calories per person per day, with no evidence that it has reduced levels of obesity." He added that other options such as reducing portion sizes or changing ingredients would be more effective.

Patients less satisfied by GPs who refuse antibiotics - BBC News
[ quick fix society. rather pop a pill than not eat bacon for breakfast. show how much GP's have to change set-up and be incentivised 2 help people change. ] The study, published in the British Journal of General Practice, compared the prescribing rates of more than 95% of all GP surgeries in England to a survey of patient satisfaction. Those satisfaction scores are used to determine how much GPs get paid. Patients' satisfaction rose when they were listened to or carefully examined. A study last year warned that up to half of all prescriptions of antibiotics could be inappropriate - given to patients suffering coughs, colds, sore throats and the flu - none of which can be treated with antibiotics. The overuse of antibiotics has led to antibiotic resistance, when bacteria and infections can no longer be killed off or treated with strong drugs. In this study, doctors who prescribed 25% fewer antibiotics saw a modest reduction in patient satisfaction with them or with their surgery.

One-fifth of youngsters suffer from 'high anxiety' - BBC News
The study looked at the wellbeing and mental health of 7.5 million young people in the UK aged 16 to 24. [...] The figures also show a rising proportion of young people who felt dissatisfied with their health. [...] The figures from the ONS show a picture of a growing number of young people who are satisfied with their lives - but with a persistent minority reporting unhappiness or suffering from anxiety. [...] Campus anxiety [...] But in terms of anxiety, 18% report high levels of anxiety and almost 16% have "medium" levels of anxiety. In a separate measure, there are almost 21% of young people with "evidence indicating depression or anxiety". And young people's perceptions of their own physical health seemed to be progressively more negative, with more expressing dissatisfaction and fewer feeling satisfied. BBC Documentary - Sugar v Fat - YouTube - min 38 - engineering addictive food "I have a sweet tooth"
Fat vs Sugar (vs Salt). Its not one. Its the combination of 3 via processed foods/home made dishes/junk/fast food/ready meals by the food industry towards the bliss point, moorish, addictive. Tricking the brain 2 overeat those engineered foods! SEE BOOK: Salt, Sugar, Fat by Michael Moss! bit.ly/1O1F0Uh - A combination u cant find it in nature. Bliss point ratio! Cheese cake/glaze donut is half fat half sugar. & dont forget the Salt. Processed Food is literally deadly because it IS engineered 2 addiction (Wall Street Food Conglomerate profit maximisation/shareholder value) combination of 50/50 + high in salt = moorish. Tricking our stop buttons (Leptin and Ghrelin, satiety feeling (via condensed volume (no/little added fiber) to calories ratio)) that we have // Thus have to make the effort & planning, making your meals yourself. // Also Dr. Robert Lustig, boo&talks: processed food as culprit. //&! youtu.be/_H5oFX7bHtY + exercise & animal protein culprit too! //&! youtu.be/2uisu5dY3G0

- how can you fix something that people think is normal. that they are normal? you have to enlighten them, not shove it in their face, but they have to do the work themselves. then comes the intrinsic motivation with that and the step by step, incremental change ... that eventually compounds. change is hard. but hard things are worth it. rewarding so much more. its a individual private personal journey. //&! Yes, these womens feelings are real bc they have been told white lies, outright lies, deceived (deception), things have been spun and reframed, & now they are made to look like fools, self-destructive, lazy, addicts, ... under those circumstances, lots of people with thick emotions arnd food & their weight since childhood can be seen not irrationally angry but, fair & square, under the given circumstances. // "she got my genetics." #epigenetics is true. brain of unborn gets pre-programmed in womb with mothers eating habits & also with health habits from father (gene expression!). // but u have to look @ it also that women are much more harshly judged than men, around this. but it catches up; rise of bigorexia/muscle dysmorphia

Healthier lifestyles 'could cut cancer cases by a third' - BBC News
For example, among men, 9% of cases of advanced prostate cancer could be prevented every year if men were not overweight or obese. [...] Prof Kevin Fenton, director of health and wellbeing at Public Health England, said the UK was currently behind on cancer survival rates compared with other European countries. He said one major factor was that cancer prevention was not in the public consciousness. 30 stone at 13: meet the obese teenagers going under the knife | Society | The Guardian
More than 8,000 patients had weight-loss surgery in 2012-13, according to NHS figures – a 30-fold increase in just over a decade. They were not only middle-aged and long-term obese, but teenagers and young people, too: 570 under-25s had surgery between 2010 and 2013, according to the UK National Bariatric Surgery Registry, and nearly 40% of these were “super obese”. Despite healthy eating edicts and government campaigns, they had, in their short lives, already advanced through the obesity categories – obese, severely obese, morbidly obese – and now, at super obese, were more than twice the weight they should be.
