Thoreau and Civil Disobedience - YouTube
Henry David Thoreau // Patriots are not those who follow blindly the leader (majority/minority votes) and their administration. But those who follow their own conscience, and the principles of reason. It is independent through (see also uk, us media landscape). hated political passivity - do nothing to put an end to xyz, although happening to have an opinion. but not acting on it. [...] // serving your own mind and conscience.

Blacklisted: The Secret Government Rulebook For Labeling You a TerroristThe Intercept
"The heart of the document revolves around the rules for placing individuals on a watchlist. “All executive departments and agencies,” the document says, are responsible for collecting and sharing information on terrorist suspects with the National Counterterrorism Center. It sets a low standard—”reasonable suspicion“—for placing names on the watchlists, and offers a multitude of vague, confusing, or contradictory instructions for gauging it." [...] The immediate family of suspected terrorists [...] ”associates” who have a defined relationship with a suspected terrorist, but whose involvement in terrorist activity is not known. A third loophole is broader still—individuals with “a possible nexus” to terrorism, but for whom there is not enough “derogatory information” to meet the reasonable suspicion[.]" |PS: The Intercept/First = Greenwald & Omydiar, former sold it all to the latter. // Patriot Act II - // source not from Snowden!

NSA releases email in dispute over Snowden 'internal whistleblowing' | World news |
sadly comical scene of Snowden asserting that he raised the issue of the WH overriding Congress (ie a coup) via the NSA in an email and the NSA replying there is no evidence that he made this point. >> ""The issue is an important one in the context of whether NSA surveillance activities were permissible, as it addresses possible conflict between laws passed by Congress and orders given by the White House. Senate intelligence committee members Ron Wyden and Mark Udall have long argued the administration may have been in breach of surveillance statutes in its activities. They were prevented from raising many of their concerns in public due to confidentiality requirements. The NSA, however, disputes that this latest email exchange is proof of Snowden raising concerns about “interpretations of its legal authorities”.
