Goldman Sachs to pay $5bn for its role in the 2008 financial crisis
The settlement holds the bank accountable for its ‘serious misconduct’ in falsely assuring investors that securities it sold were backed by sound mortgages // [ 7 YEARS LATER. AND THIS IS A SETTLEMENT (both parties haggled for a price)! If prosecutors would have decided to go ahead and try prosecute in court, we would have looked for an additional 7 years wait. No including going into appeals. ]

Greek referendum: how would top economists vote? | World news | The Guardian
"A no vote would at least open the possibility that Greece, with its strong democratic tradition, might grasp its destiny in its own hands. [...] [I]s far more hopeful than the unconscionable torture of the present." [...] The troika clearly did a reverse Corleone – they made Tsipras an offer he can’t accept, and presumably did this knowingly [ Blackmail offer they (Syriza) could not accept - bbc.in/1GV19uS &! bbc.in/1TcpC7s &! youtu.be/g3YF38exVNo ]. So the ultimatum was, in effect, a move to replace the Greek government. [T]hat has to be disturbing for anyone who believes in European ideals. [...] I recommend that the Greek people give a resounding “No” to the creditors in the referendum on their demands this weekend. // &! The Guardian view on the Greek referendum: hard to imagine a more dismal choice - Editorial - bit.ly/1LZS7kv - The Greek crisis has led Brussels into the business of regime change // &! Remote control for your life. ] Yet, clearly investors like Goldman Sachs see huge potential in on-demand verticals in emerging markets, where consumers typically leapfrog wired internet for the mobile internet on smartphones. “We believe that Foodpanda has a tremendous opportunity to cement its emerging markets leadership position in the coming years. It is our expectation that the company innovative, value-added offerings will lead Foodpanda to be the winner in online food delivery within the markets in which it operates,” said Ian Friedman of Goldman Sachs Investment Partners.
