No one would listen to Stephen Fry if he was poor
Now he expects us to join him in condemning people who have been affected by events they could not possibly control.

And there are many of them. A recent study found that up to 80% of abused people had at least one psychiatric disorder by their 21st birthday: depression, anxiety, thoughts of suicide. Schoolyard bullying can be just as destructive, with one study arguing that bullying carried out by other children is five times more likely than neglect or abuse at home to cause anxiety.

Just as the body’s immune system is still forming in childhood, so too is the brain’s stress response. The effects of childhood trauma cannot be overstated: abuse, sexual abuse in particular, is devastating. Children need love, and they need to feel safe. Suspended BBC journalist breaks silence over Tyson Fury comments · PinkNews
[ Platforming, see paris lees on Germaine Greer and platforming for wrong people ... ] The Newsline journalist was since suspended, and had previously said he was not allowed to comment on the controversy. But in a new YouTube video, West did comment, saying: “I’m not really meant to say anything, but I wanted to just say that I chose between being an objective journalist and being a human being with thoughts and opinions with principles.” He went on: “I shouldn’t have given my opinion on something that was current” but said that at the same time he “couldn’t forget the little boy I was when I was nine or 10 at school and I was being bullied for being camp and being gay”. The video now appears to have been deleted from West’s YouTube page.

Paris Lees: On Germaine Greer and the Hypocrisy of the 'Left' | VICE | United Kingdom
the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Zeid Ra'ad Al Hussein, pointed out that freedom of expression is not absolute and words can lead to violence: "History has shown us time and again the dangers of demonising foreigners and minorities." [...] People can and do change. Bigots don't. That is what makes them bigots. Germaine Greer has been shitting on trans people for over 40 years. Germaine Greer is a bigot. [...] The way people think about trans people and the way people treat trans people are clearly completely unrelated. // via redd.it/3tlbcg //&! apperently Richard Dawkins blocked her on Twitter after that article; bit.ly/1XnkhKE

Trans activist Paris Lees walks out of BBC Newsnight recording - Gay Star News
I’m not prepared to enter into a fabricated debate about trans people’s right to exist/express themselves. ‘There is no “debate”. Some people are trans – I’d have been very happy to go on & talk about the simple issue of human rights for trans people.’ [...] The community was already concerned after anti-trans academic Sheila Jeffreys was asked to appear on BBC Radio 4 show Woman’s Hour on 7 August to discuss her new book. In the segment, she explained without challenge how trans people ‘hurt people and society’. //&! on.fb.me/1N0IVex - Germaine Greer //&! bit.ly/1MnwKb6 - nobody needs a gender theory degree title to decide to wear make-up and dresses. //&!
