Construction activity will grow in 2016, but at a slower rate - JLL
Three trends are leading to growth slowing in 2016: The upcoming election’s effect on consumer behavior, the Fed increasing interest rates and a labor shortage paired with rising wages.

However, demand from downstream markets such as Austin, Chicago, Atlanta and Charlotte will bolster the industry and construction profit margins will continue to rise, keeping construction growing at a faster rate than the overall economy.

The Demographics of Innovation in the United States - ITIF
Behind every technological innovation is an individual or a team of individuals responsible for the hard scientific or engineering work. And behind each of them is an education and a set of experiences that impart the requisite knowledge, expertise, and opportunity. These scientists and engineers drive technological progress by creating innovative new products and services that raise incomes and improve quality of life for everyone.

But who are these individuals? How old are they? Were they born in the United States or abroad?

ULX: Beyond Car-Dependent Buildings - Urban Land Magazine
The siting, design, and programming of buildings can encourage or discourage people from using public transit and other alternatives to the automobile. For example, placing housing near grocery stores and other neighborhood-serving retail outlets reduces the need for trips made by car. Giving apartment dwellers handy, secure bike storage makes owning a bike much simpler, and providing affordable housing in prime spots close to multiple transit lines grants access to those who need affordable means of travel the most.

Austin plans to build the [re]Manufacturing Hub at former landfill - Austin American-Statesman
Austin Resource Recovery, the city’s trash and recycling department, is working to make that happen by developing the [re]Manufacturing Hub at the site of the city landfill off FM 812, which no longer accepts materials. The city’s plan for those 95 acres is to house about a dozen businesses, all involved in the work or research of making recyclables into goods. Those companies would lease land from the city at or below market rate and build their own facilities.
