The future is everyone having their own currency
Clearly not. But it's an interesting idea. And fascinating how easy it is now.
(I'm reminded that Emperor Norton had one too)

The euro is a disaster even for the countries that do everything right
This is true for any large economic area, of course. A lower
pound would be much better for the manufacturing sectors of Britain. And
Scotland would probably be better off with its own currency.

Can Scotland be independent and keep sterling?
Personally, I'm actually leaning towards having our unique currency. I suspect we'd drop by a bit, making us more competitive.

The great shift in global power just hit high gear, sparked by a financial crash
The onset of the global financial crisis provides the context for the decline of American economic power and illustrates the extent to which it has become dependent on China for the continuation of its global financial hegemony.

Such periods of transition are profoundly unstable, deeply uncertain and fraught with danger. The world is fortunate - for the time being, at least - that it has an American president in Obama who is prepared to take a conciliatory and concessive attitude towards America's decline and that it has a Chinese leadership which has been extremely cautious about expressing an opinion, let alone flexing its muscles.

Zimbabwe unveils 100 trillion dollar banknote
Remember that Zimbabwe redemoninated in mid 2008 and took 10 zeroes off the bills, and it hardly seems worth mentioning but they took 3 zeroes off in 2006. That makes this new bill 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 which may or may not be 1 nonillion dollars. It's a lot of zeroes, I may have missed a few one way or another.

Why the pound and the euro are as entwined as lovers
A business opinion piece. Fascinating, if economics fascinates you.

Another day, another fall in the dollar
"In reality, though, the dollar has been falling steadily for four years. On a trade-weighted basis against a basket of other currencies, it has lost nearly 31% of its value as fears over its giant current account deficit drag on the currency."
