Now this is massive news (I say, as the son of a paediatrician who specialised in premature births)

YouTube helps man deliver baby
Marc Stephens watched the videos as a precaution when his wife Jo started to feel some discomfort.

Four hours later, his wife went into labour and started giving birth before an ambulance could arrive at their home in Redruth.

"I Googled how to deliver a baby, watched a few videos and basically swotted up," Mr Stephens told the BBC.

Jo Stephens said they had planned a home birth, but not quite in this manner.

Toilet Training Babies in India
In one month. Although it seems that it's largely "parent training" that goes on at the start - but the babies pick things up really quickly too. I wonder if diapers get in the way of training.

Increase in asthma linked to Caesareans
Babies born by Caesarean delivery are more likely to develop asthma than those delivered naturally, doctors say. Exposure to bacteria in the vagina during birth is thought to play a key role in priming the immune system, providing a defence against the development of allergies.

In Caesarean children, exposure to bacteria happens later and research has shown they have different intestinal flora – gut bacteria – suggesting the maturation of their immune systems is delayed.

Natural birth 'may aid baby bond'
Mothers who give birth naturally are more responsive to the cry of their baby than those who choose to have a Caesarean, American research suggests.

Brain scans on 12 new mothers soon after birth found more activity in areas linked to motivation and emotions in those who had a vaginal delivery.

The contractions which are an essential part of a natural birth trigger the release of the hormone oxytocin, which is thought to play a key role in shaping maternal behaviour.
