About Uploadify - Uploadify
Uploadify is a jQuery plugin that integrates a fully-customizable multiple file upload utility on your website.  It uses a mixture of Javascript, ActionScript, and any server-side language to dynamically create an instance over any DOM element on a page.

Uploadify was born out of the need for a multiple file upload utility for a CMS that was being developed.  After evaluating the other available options, RonnieSan decided the best option was to build a new plug-in and make it available to the development community.  In order to make the plug-in easy to implement and highly-customizable, the jQuery format was chosen.  After word got out, the popularity of the plug-in spawned the need for a dedicated site.  Travis Nickels volunteered his help to refine the Uploadify plug-in and make it what it is today.

Eject to Flash
I am quite enamored with this method of being mostly Flash free on OS X. However, I can't be bothered with the amount of effort it takes to copy a URL to Chrome when I need Flash. The develop menu shortcut hack also wasn't cutting it. So, I created Eject to Flash. Installing it will allow you to open the page you are viewing in Chrome with one click or keyboard shortcut (Command + E). Enjoy.

Use AppleScript to open current Safari URL in Google Chrome
What I needed was a way to open the current Safari page to Google Chrome. After my own attempts at cobbling together an AppleScript solution failed, John Welch was kind enough to provide the the answer via Twitter:

The Ring Flash Adapter
Do you love your camera so much that people tell you to marry it? Or does that stop happening after 3rd grade? Either way, if you really love your DSLR, you should put a ring on it. (Beyonce, your wisdom knows no bounds.)

The Ring Flash Adapter is a reflective circle that attaches to the front of your external flash. It requires no batteries or cords because it uses the flash you already have.

Not only does this give your photos a soft, even glow, but it also gives you a studio quality look without a myriad of expensive and difficult equipment.

Non-Volatile Systems Laboratory
At the Non-volatile Systems Laboratory we have designed a procedure to bypass the flash translation layer (FTL) on SSDs and directly access the raw NAND flash chips to audit the success of any given sanitization technique. Our results show that naïvely applying techniques designed for sanitizing hard drives on SSDs, such as overwriting and using built-in secure erase commands is unreliable and sometimes results in all the data remaining intact. Furthermore, our results also show that sanitizing single files on an SSD is much more difficult than on a traditional hard drive. We are working on designing new FTLs that correct these issues and also exploit properties of flash memory to maintain performance while sanitizing the flash drive.

Vertical Forest :: YouTube5 Version 2
YouTube5 has become far more popular than I ever imagined it would! I’d like to say a general thank you to everyone who has commented to make suggestions or just express appreciation for this extension, its a great encouragement to know it has been useful to so many people.

Several months ago I had hinted that I was in the process of developing a new version of this extension, and I’m excited to announce that it is finally ready! This version is an almost complete rewrite, and includes many improvements over the first, including:

A custom designed HTML5 player to replace the usable, but very limited built-in player.
Support for Vimeo and Facebook video.
The ability to switch video resolutions within the player, without having to access Safari’s preferences.
Support for downloading videos from YouTube and Facebook.
A fully functional volume control, rather than just a mute button.
Support for displaying the video’s title, author, and source, in a video overlay, along with a link back to the video’s page on YouTube, Vimeo, etc.

HTML5 Audio Safari Extension //
After listening to John talk about going Flash-free and then reading the secret to his success I thought I would give it a try. First thing I did after disabling the plugin was open up Fever to see how it would impact my daily browsing experience. Almost immediately I hit a snag.

I subscribe to a number of blogs that post audio files on a regular basis (like composer of Battlestar Galactica and The Walking Dead, Bear McCreary and a number of game music sites). Connor McKay’s YouTube5 Safari extension addresses most videos I encounter and Open in Google Chrome works for the rest but while video might demand attention audio is ambient. It doesn’t makes sense to keep a second browser open just for background noise but I couldn’t find a similar extension for audio. So I made one.
